Final Week of Revolution Sustainer Drive

You Rely on Us... We Rely on YOU!

Revolution #038, March 12, 2006, posted at revcom.us

I've read about Mobile.1 I don't remember meeting him myself, but I can see he was a cool person who spent a lot of time fighting for the people. I gave the article to someone in here who knew him who in turn put it in his photo album... I'm enclosing some stamps for the fundraiser for the newspaper. I can't just yet but when I get to where I may go I should be able to start buying my own subscription when I get a job there.

I will sustain revolution paper because I think in a world where truth is harder and harder to find, revolution newspaper shines a bright light in the wilderness that draws me in. Just the covers are so raw that they make me nervously laugh sometimes because of their frankness and bold content. Revolution fills me with a sense of community. The same sense that I, though the media would have everyone believe otherwise, am not alone in my resentment of the country in which I live. Not of the people who live in it, but the people who knowingly perpetuate the ignorance, narrowmindedness and ethnocentricity of the United states of Imperialism, War, Poverty, and Torture.

Enclosed is a check for $100 to sustain your noble efforts to challenge the Neo-con Fascist threat to America & build a more humane and logical world. Revolution Newspaper is much loved and meditated on around here--it helps tie many seemingly loose ends together intellectually. Thanks and keep up the good work.

A sustainer in California

I am eternally grateful for Revolution. I live in an area where peoples minds are enslaved by the myths of religion and tradition. If it weren't for papers like Revolution, people on the street would never understand the urgency for the avenues open to them to change the enslavement of capitalism and right wing propaganda. I by no means am a wealthy person, but in light of what wealth does to destroy civilizations and societies, I do not want to be wealthy. But that doesn't stop me from pledging $25.00 a month to sustain Revolution....

I am becoming a sustainer to provide regular material support to a media organ of the utmost import in these dangerous times - an unabashedly and consistently revolutionary press that can cut through the fog of both this current regime's official spin and also that of it's imperialist rival interests, in order to help the masses take control of their own destiny and create a new world for us all...

A sustainer in the Midwest

... I embraced the Revolution while serving a twenty year sentence of which I wasn't guilty of. The paper opened my eyes and gave me the other side of the picture. The paper also led me to many other books that enlighten and inspired me to act.

I had come in contact with the paper long ago, but couldn't comprehend the real until I became subject to some of of the abuse I constantly read about in the paper. ... The Revolution taught that there's no justice in a system that willfully destroys it's own citizens...

At this present time I continue to use the Revolution to make sure that others know that theres somebody out there doing what they can to change these situations and build a much better world for us all to live in, and until this objective is reached our struggle continues.

You rely on us, and we take that seriously. But we also rely on you. This expresses a whole relationship between this newspaper and its readers that has everything to do with this newspaper keeping it real, staying true to its mission, and forging all along the way the kind of dynamic between the revolutionary vanguard and the people that we need to bring into being a whole other kind of world. And right now, this means readers like you going to revcom.us, or sending checks and money orders NOW to financially sustain this newspaper.

Why Revolution is so Important

Readers get from Revolution a perspective they can find only in a newspaper that represents the outlook of the class of people on this planet with nothing to lose, no stake in the present order, and no need or desire to pull punches or cover up the abuses of the system. From that perspective, Revolution readers also get exposed to a unique panorama of protest and rebellion from all kinds of people--from progressive clergy to rebellious artists, from the people on the bottom of society to defectors from the power structure.

Revolution newspaper reveals not just the atrocities and outrages that are covered up by the establishment media, and not just the scope and range of dissatisfaction and resistance in society, but also why things are the way they are, and how revolutionary change is possible. In that light, this paper connects hundreds of thousands of people, now, with Bob Avakian.

Bob Avakian is the leader of the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA. And he is more than that: he's an innovative and critical thinker who has taken Marxism to a new place; he's a provocative commentator on everything from basketball to religion, doo-wop music to science; and he's a pit-bull fighter against oppression who's kept both his solemn sense of purpose and his irrepressible sense of humor. Revolution newspaper is proud to be an important way that people in this country and around the world connect with Bob Avakian.

What About You!

There is one week left in this fund drive. Our goal: 500 new sustainers, $50,000 in pledges! Have you sustained yet?

A solid base of financial sustainers is especially important now, when so much is at stake, and when Bush--as a concentration of the horrors of this system--is steering a course with such dangers for the people but also with the potential to create openings for revolutionary struggle. With a sustainer base, we can expand and improve our coverage, dramatically increase our distribution, improve the look and accessibility of our print and web editions, fulfill the requests of prisoners for subsidized subscriptions, and radically increase our impact on society.

We are asking every reader of Revolution, online and in our print edition, to sustain this paper on a regular basis in one of two ways: By going to revcom.us, clicking on the Sustain link, and then using your credit card to commit to $5, $10, $20, $40 a month or more. Or, for those who cannot contribute by credit card, send check or money order to:

RCP Publications Sustainer Drive
PO Box 3486 Merchandise Mart
Chicago, IL 60654.

One form this could take is that groups of basic people, of all nationalities, collect a set amount each month and turn it in through their regular distributor, or send it to RCP Publications.

And, when you sign up to donate on line, or send us your check or money order, add a note telling us, and everyone else, why you sustain Revolution.

Sustain

All sustainers who sign up to contribute $5/month or more online (or who make a single online credit card donation, or send a check or money order contribution for $60 or more) can get a copy of Bob Avakian's collection "The Coming Civil War and Repolarization for Revolution in the Present Era" free. If you send a check or money order, and want the pamphlet, let us know where to send it.

$10-a-month sustainers and above (or those of you who make a single online credit card donation, or send a check or money order contribution for $120 or more) can also receive the "Wanted Poster" t-shirt! If you send a check or money order, and want a free t-shirt, let us know where to send it, and indicate your size (S, M, L, XL, XXL).

Contributions or gifts to RCP Publications are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes.
