Revolution Selling Team

A CALL TO SPREAD REVOLUTION AND COMMUNISM IN PHILADELPHIA!

“My chance encounters with the RCP have taught me that there are glorious alternatives to this current oppressive system and to the poverty I see outside my house, on the subway and at work. Please, let’s further the accessibility of the RCP and extend the beautiful contemporary pushes of Communism outward to others.”

—a Philadelphia resident

Join the REVOLUTION newspaper team heading to Philadelphia Saturday and Sunday, December 6 and 7—an important foray to help carry out the nationwide effort to build a revolutionary movement around the newspaper and to engage people with the works, method and approach of RCP Chairman Bob Avakian. The team will mix it up with the deeply oppressed Black masses of North Philly, students and faculty at neighboring Temple University, and try to hit other key areas of the city, including cultural hotspots (jazz and other music clubs, bookstores, etc.).

The volunteers will help establish REVOLUTION networks in Philly, set up distribution outlets, and get subscriptions and sustainers. As spelled out in the editorial in the November 16, 2008 issue of REVOLUTION, “A Bold Initiative”: “Distributors of this paper will be doing the work of hastening and preparing for revolution—training people to think and act together, to view every event in society from the standpoint of making revolution and emancipating humanity, and to do as much as possible to bring forward a revolutionary people, ready to actually make revolution when the time is ripe. And the network of readers that will grow up around this paper will form a backbone of revolutionary organization in this country, organization which links people in housing projects and the mean streets of the cities, students and professors on the college campuses, people in the rural areas and suburbs, and more.”

Philadelphia has a long history of oppression and mass struggles against it. The city was a main “rail” in the Underground Railroad during slavery days, and today is where the powers are attempting to execute the framed revolutionary journalist and former Black Panther, Mumia Abu-Jamal. A demonstration supporting Mumia is happening on December 6, to which REVOLUTION team members will go.

There is, in fact, much seething anger in Philadelphia, among the Black masses and others, while on the other hand there has been considerable cynicism and demoralization in recent years, and now illusion that Obama may offer some real hope. The REVOLUTION team will jump right into the fray!

The team will hook up with people living in Philadelphia to carry out this revolutionary work, and plans are being developed to host the team while it is there. So come to Philadelphia on December 6 and 7 (and the 8th as well, if some can stay to do more work at Temple).

Let us know ASAP if you want to volunteer and we will contact you with the details.
