Wall of NO! in Chicago, near Obama's farewell speech

On a cold, rainy, windy Tuesday night, January 10, close to 20,000 people came to the McCormick Place convention center to see Barack Obama’s farewell address. People had lined up the previous Saturday to get tickets and people were told to get there early.

Thousands were greeted by teams from RefuseFascism.org boldly taking out the message, “No Trump, No KKK, No Fascist USA” and calling on people to go to Washington DC to be in the streets to “Stop Trump-Pence before it starts” The “No Trump, No KKK” chant echoed the chant by Carl Dix and others who had disrupted the confirmation hearing of racist lying-ass Jeff Sessions earlier in the day.

One team outside had a big banner with “NO! In the Name of Humanity We Refuse to Accept a Fascist America,” and agitated and chanted through a sound system. Another team, wearing “NO!” signs, stickers, and buttons, found a great spot where people poured into a building and up an escalator.

Flyers went out as people rushed into the Lakeside Center. People had been told through the press that they would go through airport-like security and that no leaflets or banners were allowed. Some of the people who didn’t take flyers indicated support and where challenged that this was not enough, they had to be organizers. We also made a point of shouting out the website refusefascism.org.

Nearby, on a brick building, was a breathtaking huge projection:

NO!
THIS FASCIST REGIME
MUST BE STOPPED
BEFORE IT STARTS
WWW.REFUSEFASCISM.ORG

This was a great opportunity to reach thousands with RefuseFascism’s urgent message, including many who will be targets of Trump-Pence’s fascist plans.
