Adolf Trump “Discovers” the Holocaust… In Service of Hitler-Like Ethnic Cleansing Here and Around the World

After running a campaign that repeatedly—and only a millimeter under the surface—embraced neo-Nazi anti-Semitism… after “forgetting” to mention Jews in a message on the Holocaust… after insulting and humiliating a Jewish reporter who asked him to condemn anti-Semitic violence… and surrounded in the WHITE house by “alt-REICH” neo-Nazi enablers and promoters… Donald Trump “discovered” that “The Holocaust was the state-sponsored systematic persecution and attempted annihilation of European Jewry by the Nazi regime and its collaborators.”
As Trump issued his proclamation, his regime has ripped away all pretense that any of the 11 million undocumented people in the U.S. are safe. And, that this is the case no matter how law abiding they have been, or how long they’ve been here. These millions of people, their parents, children, siblings, loved ones, friends, and co-workers are living under siege today, demonized and marginalized. Many have been driven into hiding in conditions that resemble those of Anne Frank, a teenage Jewish girl who hid in an attic until discovered and shipped to a death camp by the Nazis. And Trump’s message came at a time when his regime has declared war on the world’s Muslims.
With undeniable parallels between what is going on in the U.S., and the initial stages of what was to evolve into the Nazi Holocaust, Trump and/or those in his inner circles seem to have made a call that, at this time, they should put some space between their regime and virulent anti-Semitic Nazis who are part of Trump’s base, and who he has pandered to, and emboldened.
That was all it took for the New York Times to gush that Trump’s statement “sent a powerful message to those who doubt his will to fight anti-Semitism—and to his own supporters in the white nationalist movement.” Not only were the editors of the Times able to blind themselves to what is going on all around them to immigrants, Muslims and others—documented in their own newspaper—but they didn’t even require of Trump a perfunctory condemnation of the vicious escalation in violent racist attacks on Muslims, immigrants, people of color, and yes, Jewish people by “his own supporters.”
Zionists and the mainstream of the U.S. ruling class have used the Holocaust as justification for Israel’s monstrous crimes, including the dispossession and generations-long persecution and confinement in apartheid-like misery of Palestinians, and terror carried out all over the world, especially but not confined to, the Middle East. Trump’s statement did that, as well.
It is important that many Jewish people and organizations have been among the voices opposing the demonization and persecution of immigrants and Muslims. The organization If Not Now rebutted Trump’s statement, saying “For Trump, there are those who are ‘true’ Americans and those who are not. As Jews, we know the danger of such distinctions.”
As for the World Jewish Congress, and other Jewish organizations that embraced Trump’s statement: You have assumed for yourselves the role of those in Nazi Germany who cheered as Hitler sent “the others,” including millions of Jews, to what eventually became death camps.
