A Nightmare Now Made Even Worse

You cannot break all the chains, except one. You cannot say you want to be free of exploitation and oppression, except you want to keep the oppression of women by men. You can't say you want to liberate humanity yet keep one half of the people enslaved to the other half. The oppression of women is completely bound up with the division of society into masters and slaves, exploiters and exploited, and the ending of all such conditions is impossible without the complete liberation of women. All this is why women have a tremendous role to play not only in making revolution but in making sure there is all-the-way revolution. The fury of women can and must be fully unleashed as a mighty force for proletarian revolution.

We live in a world where HALF OF HUMANITY is treated as LESS THAN HUMAN. Around the world, women and young girls: Locked into sweatshops in countries like China and Bangladesh, making cheap U.S. consumer goods. Kidnapped into networks of sex trafficking that circle the globe. Stoned to death, or burned with acid, by forces of Islamic fundamentalism. Brutalized and murdered by the equally oppressive “modern” culture of rape, violent pornography, sexual assault, and Christian fascism.

Worldwide, tens of thousands of women dying each year from lack of safe abortions. Women, treated like SLAVES—denied the right to abortion, the right to determine something as basic as when, or even whether, to have children.

Anti-woman shit EVERYWHERE, normalized. Locker rooms, where men joke and boast about women, ranking body parts. Military barracks, where violent porn pumps up soldiers before they kill, and one in three women is raped or sexually assaulted. Offices where women are demeaned, and strip clubs, where women are bought and many times brutalized to satisfy sexual fantasies. Homes where women are treated like sex objects, punching bags, breeders of children, and servants of men.

All this, rooted in a system that cannot live one day without oppressing women. A capitalist-imperialist system that right now, in the U.S., is going towards fascism.

The violent reassertion of patriarchy is part of the Trump/Pence regime’s all-around fascist program that also includes attacks on immigrants and Muslims, threats against the press, denial of climate change, a frontal assault on science, and much more.

Trump, a walking embodiment of rape culture—crude degradation, revenge, and sexual violence against women. Trump with his pussy-grabbing boasts. Pence, a Christian fascist who says no abortion even if a woman is raped or in danger of dying, no birth control, no sex before marriage, who champions anti-LGBTQ bigotry.

Both see women as property of men. One sees them as sex objects to be used, abused, and discarded. The other sees them as breeders and lifelong servants of men.

Right away, Trump signed a global “gag order” banning U.S. money to international groups that perform or provide information on abortions. He just reversed a rule prohibiting states from defunding family planning clinics because they also provide abortions, making it easier to target Planned Parenthood.

There must be determined struggle against all this. This resistance needs to link up with and be part of the movement to drive out this fascist regime.

But let’s go further than that. Let’s get beyond this woman-oppressing capitalist-imperialist system that brought us Trump and will keep bringing us Trumps of one kind or another so long as it is on the planet. Things don’t have to be this way. And EVERYONE needs to be and can be a part of a historic fight to bring about a whole different world where women—and all human beings—are emancipated.

There are answers to: WHY the oppression of women is still going on and now taking a leap, and HOW this and every other form of oppression can be eliminated. There is a revolutionary leader, Bob Avakian (BA), who has done the work to find these answers as part of bringing forward a whole new synthesis of communism, a new communism. BA has examined movements and struggles of the past, looked at Russia and China when they were socialist, gleaning positive and negative lessons. He has studied theoretical work by many others. He has built on and learned from all this and is not only leading a movement to make an ACTUAL revolution, but has developed a concrete plan for building a new socialist society—the Constitution for the New Socialist Republic in North America.

So if you want to know: where the oppression of women came from and why you can’t get rid of it under this system... why we now face the consolidation of a fascist regime and what must be done to fight against it... how the struggle for the liberation of women is essential for a REAL revolution to emancipate all of humanity... and how we can build a whole new and liberating society... You need to get into the work of BA and hook up with the movement for revolution.

The world CAN be a whole different way. Revolution can bring a new society where women are treated as FULL HUMAN BEINGS—capable of participating fully and equally in every realm of human society together with men.
