ALERT! Supreme Court Reinstated Large Parts of Muslim Ban

June 26: The Supreme Court just reinstated large parts of the Muslim Ban. They will hear the full case in October, but in the meantime they have lifted much of the injunction from the lower courts—meaning that large parts of the Ban will go into effect immediately. Specifically, anyone from the targeted predominantly Muslim countries without what the court considers to be “bona fide” pre-existing ties to an individual or entity within the U.S. will NOT be allowed in.
This will immediately destroy lives of countless people seeking refuge and travel—and bodes very negatively for the full appeal when it is heard by the Supreme Court in October.
Noteworthy: Trump’s new judge, Neil Gorsuch, was one of 3 judges who dissented from this Supreme Court opinion. According to the New York Times, Gorsuch, along with Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas, wrote that they would have lifted the ENTIRE injunction (i.e., they would have put the entire Muslim Ban in effect). Again, this bodes very negatively for the future ruling from the Supreme Court on the entire Ban in October.
Additionally: In two other cases, the Supreme Court has issued opinions that will negatively impact the lives and fundamental rights of women and LGBTQ people. We will have more to say about this soon.
To those who have been counting on the courts to be a “check” against the fascist Trump/Pence Regime and its horrific program of heartless indifference and cruelty to the people around the world, under the signboard of “America First,” let this be a wakeup call. The Trump/Pence Regime is both remaking the courts (packing them with fascists) and threatening the courts (on the occasions when the courts do rule against them). The Regime will not be bound by the rule of law and the courts cannot be relied on to stop them. It is on us—on the masses of people, in our millions who hate and fear what this regime is doing—to stand up and say NO!
Refuse Fascism has been on the front lines mobilizing—every day—against these fascist attacks. And we will be out in the streets today against this—we call on you to join us (find protests, to be posted throughout the day, here).

And we urge you to join us in mobilizing for July 15 for thousands across the country to say NO! to the whole fascist program, and in working aggressively and relentlessly towards the time when millions can be won to stay in the streets night after night, day after day, demanding and not stopping until the entire regime has been driven from power.
We will NOT go along with “America First,” heartless cruelty to people around the world and religious bigotry against Muslims.
