This Week in Fascism: Direction, Momentum…and Urgency

The two accompanying articles together make chillingly clear that, as the call for Refuse Fascism states, “Fascism has direction and momentum.”

The first article concerns Trump’s continuing reckless threats and the conflicts between Trump and elements of his “national security team,” including Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

The second, taken from the Refuse Fascism website (Refusefascism.org), shows the scope of attacks launched in just this past week against masses of people within the U.S.

Most of these attacks directly relate to the agenda of the Christian fascist section of the ruling class, which aims to impose rule by the dictates of fundamentalist Christianity on the U.S. It should be added here that this week was also marked by Mike Pence’s chief of staff telling big-money Republican donors to withhold money from Republican senators and congressmen deemed insufficiently loyal to the Trump/Pence regime, and to back their more fanatically fascist opponents in primaries.

These developments point to the urgency of the Call for massive, defiant, nonviolent demonstrations beginning on November 4 and building from there, aimed at driving out the Trump/Pence regime.

In both of this week’s developments, you can mistake the sharpness of what is happening for chaos and disarray; in fact, this is fascist consolidation proceeding through chaos. You could adjust to it, as many top Democrats are doing. What is imperative is that you resist this. If that is done, then the whole equation can begin to change.

As we have stated:

The Democrats, along with the New York Times and the Washington Post, etc., are seeking to resolve the crisis with the Trump presidency on the terms of this system, and in the interests of the ruling class of this system, which they represent. We, the masses of people, must go all out, and mobilize ourselves in the millions, to resolve this in our interests, in the interests of humanity, which are fundamentally different from and opposed to those of the ruling class.
