BA Speaks: REVOLUTION—NOTHING LESS! Film In The Hood

On Saturday night, the Revolution Club in our area put up bed sheets on a fence in front of a retail pharmacy/drug store and had an impromptu showing of BA Speaks: REVOLUTION—NOTHING LESS! Bob Avakian Live to a number of people waiting at the bus stop in the hood! We set up a few chairs. Some people sat down and others stood watching intensely while still more people listened from the periphery (even from the bus stop across the street). A car full of people even stopped in the intersection to try to watch!

As BA talked about one major crime (ie. police murder after murder of Black and Latino youth), an older Black couple stopped to talk about how their son was killed in street violence and remarked (in agreement with BA) that it was all caused by the capitalist system, especially when BA talked about "crime being a rational choice." It was interesting that the man remarked that he was confused about what communism was... he thought it was just like capitalism because of what he was seeing in Russia and China!! He really liked listening to the film. He remarked, "So he's a communist leader... and he really has a nice voice!" and made a small donation to BA Everywhere Campaign on the spot. 

Over the past two weekends, we have been distributing penny jars to people who are serious... for them to take home and return to us when we have our picnic on Sunday, March 30, at a local park. Last Sunday, at a large nearby church, one woman was attempting to stop people from taking our leaflets because this was "communist;" but it only resulted in others wanting to check it out, especially because our leaflet contained a statement from the woman in Harlem (about the Harlem/Bronx bake sale — "Imagine a world that does not define you by gender, race or ethnic group, but as a human being" ... followed by the bold request for donations for the BA Everywhere Campaign because we need to make it a reality). In fact we also had a big sign that said "DONATE TO BAE!" We did in fact get some donations that day, also getting an OK from another church to use their property to hold a car wash in April!
