Guidelines for Posting Revolution Articles Online:

If you are thinking about posting Revolution Online materials, please read the following guidelines closely (and share them with others).

Revolution Online is often asked if it is OK to re-post and email of the materials that appear on our site.

We are eager to get a hearing and win an audience for the materials that appear on our site -- we want to be part of the broad debate in society and online. You can circulate and post our materials freely to online communities you are part of -- as long as you credit our site and provide a link back to http://revcom.us/

But this is important: please do not antagonize your online communities by posting in thoughtless ways. We are not interested in alienating moderators or whole communities of politically-interested people.

Here are some guidelines to follow when posting:

  1. When contributing to online discussions consider the audience and topics of each location. We don't want your communities to feel "spammed."
  2. Don't duplicate postings. Check if someone else has already been posting Revolution Online materials there (perhaps once a week).
  3. Pay attention to the rules of your online communities (message boards, professional and political e-lists, etc.) before posting. Some communities do not appreciate cross-posted articles -- especially if they are off-topic for the site/list. Some people just promote the Revolution by including our web address (http://rwor.org) in their "sig" (online signature) whenever they send emails or post online comments.
  4. Respect reasonable requests from moderators. Sometimes it helps to email moderators of the community and simply ask what the best way of contributing materials would be.
  5. Don't be discouraged by hostile replies or distracted into flame-wars. Focus on the larger reading audience, not on a few reactionary trolls. Never respond with nasty quips, threats or name-calling. We want our site and materials to be associated with a high plane of principled ideological struggle.
  6. Many e-list readers do not want long posts. In those places, you can post brief explanation of why you found an article interesting, give a few paragraphs from the article (to give a sense of what it covers), and then provide a link to the full article. (A full web address looks like this: http://rwor.org/a/v24/1181-1190/1186/popquiz.htm)
  7. Please do not ever claim to represent the Revolution -OR newspaper or Revolution Online.
  8. Each week, the list of new Revolution articles includes numbers, like (1), that indicate which articles we suggest making a special effort to post. You can post those numbered articles -- or else pick other articles (including from our archives) that may be better suited for your sites and audiences.
  9. Always include the return link to http:/revcom.us/ in your posts (and include the http:// part so that the link is clickable.) You can also add other links to pages of our site -- like the special resistance page Chairman Avakian's writings http://revcom.us/chair_e.htm.
  10. If you see someone posting materials from our site in provocative or offensive ways, please inform us and include a URL (web address) to the problem postings/threads.
    To report such problems:

If you have questions about online posting, you can always email us and ask. Or fill out a comment at the bottom of each article
  11. Finally, become a Revolution Volunteer, joined the organized forces spreading this out, summing up their experiences, and changing the world.
