Get the Revolution and Religion Dialogue on University Listservs

From a reader:

An elite university in the Midwest that I have been going to around the Dialogue is known for having many events all the time. A major way that students and faculty hear about them is through their department listservs.

Most listservs have a staff person who is sort of a host or "gatekeeper," who makes sure that the electronic notice is appropriate for their department.

The November 15 Dialogue with Cornel West and Bob Avakian, "Revolution and Religion: The Fight for Emancipation and the Role of Religion" has struck a chord with several listservs in divergent departments, including Middle Eastern Studies, African-American studies, Anthropology, and Religion, as well as other smaller campus listservs.

What I did this time that helped was, after sending an email to forward to the list moderator, I followed that up with a visit or another email to ask if it went through. One moderator wrote back that the email was too big for the system, probably due to too many images or videos. So I sent a version without images and it was posted on the listservs.

I think this is worth fighting for because these lists reach a lot of people in the intelligentsia who are connected to people nationally and even internationally—and of course New York. And, even at the last minute, these list notices can be effective. In fact, a lot of events at this university get set up at the last minute anyway.
