WHAT? 8 out of 10 Rikers correction officers, including a captain & former vice chief of security convicted on serious charges of beating, or ordering the beating of Jamal Lightfoot at Rikers in 2012? Jamal had testified in April that "“Basically it was open season for them to do what they wanted."
There is no way freedom fighters who protested the abuse & violence against prisoners at Rikers should be facing a year at Rikers as punishment.
And yet, Clark Kissinger & Miles Solay are set for trial Tuesday July 12 on the charge of "obstructing government administration." As Miles said this, in light of more proof that the system is killing people at Rikers, "Our charges should be thrown out."
Come out to a support rally and organizing action on June 28 to mobilize for the July 12 trial for the #ShutDownRikers freedom fighters. This is a potluck & donations for legal expenses will be collected.
You are needed to get behind the #ShutDownRikers freedom fighters Clark Kissinger and Miles Solay (who were among over 15 peeps who conducted nonviolent civil disobedience that closed access to Rikers for several hours in October 23, 2015 as part of the #RiseUpOctober campaign), and in that process, to indict and call for the shut down of Rikers Island.
