Whitefish, Montana Vs. Trump-Time USA

December 28, 2016 | Revolution Newspaper | revcom.us

January 2017, neo-Nazis armed with automatic weapons march through the middle of a small town where many Jewish people live, holding posters depicting the entrance to the Auschwitz death camp.

Hey everyone, this is a real plan announced by a neo-Nazi website this month.

Emboldened by the expectation of Trump-time USA, neo-Nazis have launched an online assault against Jewish members of the community of Whitefish, Montana, and now have called for a march of armed white supremacists in the near future. The online poster for the march features the entrance to the Auschwitz death camp. The online assault included publishing names and addresses of some of Whitefish's Jewish community, and reportedly there have been numerous death threats against them.

If it needs to be said, this is very bad, and it foreshadows what a Trump Amerikkka would be like, including slugs like this coming out from under the weeds and rocks, with backing from the forces of power, with real effects on real people's lives and being.

If this regime is allowed to take the reins of power.

The community of Whitefish has decided to not only dislike this, but to come together and actively oppose it. And this matters. In the words of one visitor to Whitefish (quoted in a post on Jax Politix), with the election of Trump, “The hate groups are growing exponentially and I really feel like non-Jews and non-people-of-color need to stand up and SHOUT, 'THIS IS NOT OK.'” In Whitefish, people are starting to do that.

Whitefish was targeted by these neo-Nazis because the mother of neo-Nazi Richard Spencer was supposedly forced to close her business there because of opposition from Jewish people. Richard Spencer, who once lived in Whitefish, is the neo-Nazi you saw on video leading Hitler salutes for Trump after the election, making speeches that “America, at the end of the day, belongs to white men.”

A CNN report says the town of Whitefish has made a collective decision to fight this. The Jax Politix post says the nearby town of Missoula has started a “Light in Every Window” campaign to support the Jewish community under attack. On December 5, the Whitefish town council passed a proclamation saying the town won't tolerate racism and bigotry. A Whitefish organization called “Love Lives Here” works to call out the racism of Richard Spencer. On the CNN report you can see people about town wearing t-shirts with a large cross-out symbol over the word “HATE.” Earlier this month the town had passed resolutions in support of LGBT people.

The people of Whitefish coming together to oppose this is very important. It is part of the soil for the urgently needed movement, people across the country and across the world coming together, STOPPING THIS REGIME BEFORE IT STARTS. The Whitefish community needs to be supported, including if and when the neo-Nazis bring their march to the town.

From the Mission and Plan for A MONTH OF MASSIVE RESISTANCE TO STOP THIS FASCISM:

“Imagine if people, in the tens of millions, filled the streets, powerfully declaring that this regime is illegitimate and demanding that it not be allowed to rule! The whole political landscape would be dramatically transformed, every faction within the established power structure would be forced to respond—and all this could well lead to a situation in which this fascist regime is actually prevented from ruling. This is not some idle dream but something which could be made a reality if all those who hate what is represented by this fascist regime translate their outrage into firm determination and massive mobilization to create the conditions which make this possible.”

WE MUST STOP THE TRUMP/PENCE REGIME—NOT “SURVIVE” IT!
