Barefoot Doctoring at...

When China was a revolutionary society led by Mao Zedong, there was a whole movement of “barefoot doctors”—peasants who were given basic medical training and then sent out to villages all over the country, helping many people by providing much needed basic medicine, medical treatments, and public health education. Today, there is a crying need for a movement of barefoot doctors on a mission to get Bob Avakian (BA) and the new communism he has brought forward widely known, engaged, and appreciated throughout society, and around the world. There are all kinds of people who can do this, from longtime revolutionaries to people who are just getting into BA’s work—based on a basic scientific grasp of the central importance of BA and the new communism to the future of humanity. We call on YOU to be part of this—there is in fact nothing that is more important for many, many people to be doing right now. And as you take part in this movement, contribute to this page on revcom.us, so that we can learn and get inspiration from each other’s experiences.

"Barefoot Doctoring" at the Edge of a Highway in a Black and Latino Neighborhood

Two of us went out for an hour to broadly distribute the palm cards of the BA talk, THE TRUMP/PENCE REGIME MUST GO! In the Name of Humanity We REFUSE To Accept a Fascist America. A Better World IS Possible. We set up on a busy freeway off-ramp that leads into a predominantly Black and Latino proletarian neighborhood that has a long history of resistance. We put up oversized poster displays of the BA talk, the “The Biggest, Ugliest Shithole” meme from revcom.us, and the meme of ICE handcuffing immigrants with the Spanish caption “With Fascists you cannot wait and see...” We got out 500 cards, 76 copies of Revolution newspaper, and collected $48 in donations. People coming off the freeway saw our displays and had their hands out the window to get the materials, some had their dollar bills ready to put in our donation buckets. Read more.

Recently, I went to a free monthly open house party and social at a major museum in my area to get the word out about Bob Avakian’s film, THE TRUMP/PENCE REGIME MUST GO! In the Name of Humanity, We REFUSE To Accept a Fascist America. A Better World IS Possible, about a screening we were holding the next day, and about RefuseFascism.org overall.

I wore all black with the plan to put bright orange stickers all over my body that said, “The Trump/Pence Regime Must Go!” and the Refuse Fascism (RF) website, to become a walking billboard and point of attraction—and it really worked!  Read more.

This morning I went out to a neighborhood coffee shop near a local university, which is one of several in the area that I keep pretty stocked with materials from Refuse Fascism and revcom.us. A lot of these places have little free libraries in them, and some time last year I put a copy of BAsics there on a whim. I stop by fairly regularly and would notice that it was gone sometimes, then back again later, but I hadn’t seen it in quite some time so I wondered if it was still in rotation.  Read more.
