Last week, Trump announced plans to do his first campaign rally since the COVID epidemic. He called the rally for June 19—Juneteenth, the day on which the emancipation from slavery is celebrated. This from someone so racist he STILL upholds the Confederate generals who fought to maintain slavery! And he called it for Tulsa—the site of one of the worst racist massacres of Black people in U.S. history, in 1921.
Coming on top of this fascist monster’s continuing threats to use the Army against protesters and his continual justification of murderous police violence against Black people, this was not just an insulting slap in the face against Black people as well as the entire upsurge of the past three weeks (though it was that) but an ugly and vicious threat. The outrage this caused has now forced Trump to back off holding it on Juneteenth, and that shows the potential power of the people. But he is still going ahead with it the next day in Tulsa anyway, and will be sure to try to “get the last word.”
NO WAY! There needs to be a massive outpouring of protest on both June 19 and 20 and within that there needs to be a force proclaiming:
AN END TO INSTITUTIONALIZED RACISM AND MURDER BY POLICE—NOTHING LESS!
AN END TO ANY WAY PEOPLE ANYWHERE ARE USED, ABUSED, AND BRUTALIZED—NOTHING LESS!
REVOLUTION—NOTHING LESS!
