First, a salute to all of you who have come into the streets, to gather with others, to make a start at a truly historic and daring undertaking. One month out from an election that Donald Trump is already stealing, we are declaring our determination—and extending an invitation to everyone who aches in their hearts and knows what a danger we face to join us—to protest day after day, every day, growing in numbers, demanding TRUMP/PENCE OUT NOW until we in our millions overwhelm and sweep from power this fascist regime and the nightmare it means for humanity.

We do this because the Trump/Pence regime is crushing basic rights and liberties, unleashing genocidal white supremacy, accelerating the destruction of the planet, slamming women and LGBTQ people backwards, terrorizing immigrants, and heightening the threat of nuclear annihilation.

We do this because if they are allowed to fully consolidate fascism in this most powerful country in the world it will be a catastrophe from which humanity worldwide may not be able to recover.

We do this because as important as it is to vote in overwhelming numbers, relying on voting alone, when Trump is actively destroying the election, will lead to catastrophe.

What makes me think that each of you—and all of us together—can be a match for all this regime’s lies, thugs, state repression, and terror?

It is simple. We carry the interests of humanity.

But that is not all. As we are out here calling on others to join us, making these protests known to millions through many different and creative nonviolent actions, we can become a source of hope to millions and a magnet attracting them to join us as they increasingly feel they must do something. And each day, the regime’s actions—calling on fascists to “stand by,” refusing to peacefully accept the election results, speeding to pack the Supreme Court with another fascist, and more—can drive more people to feel compelled to join us in the streets.

This is why we are starting now and why we must continue every day.

This will not be easy. At times it will feel that too few are ready to hear us, that not nearly enough people answer our call, that the fascists try to back us down. But there is a moment between now and the election, especially after the presidential debate, where people are awakening to rising winds and rain of coming storms. Of the debate, RefuseFascism.org has said: White Supremacy + Stealing the Election = FASCISM. An alarm was sounded.

In the face of difficulties, problems, the intensity of the responsibility we are taking, we will come together and strategize, get creative, find the ways to reach out ever more broadly. We’ll help each other keep going. We don’t have a lot of time, but it is precisely in a time like this—when so much of what had been “normal” is being shredded and disrupted by the day—that a core of people with humanity’s interests in our hearts can reach to and move millions. This is who we are today and this is why it matters so much that we are here. Let us go forward together.
