Three Main Points on the Texas Abortion Law
Texas Effectively Bans Abortion—and the Silence Is Deafening:

1. On September 1, abortion became effectively illegal in Texas. Women who had appointments for today or in coming days to terminate a pregnancy cannot do that now—because the law empowers any fanatic or woman hater anywhere to use the power of the state to sue anybody that assists women in getting an abortion. Imagine if you were one of those women with an appointment for today... you want to go to college and continue your education... you’re already struggling with making ends meet and can’t possibly raise a new baby... you’re a victim of rape and became impregnated... or you just don’t want to raise a child... for whatever reason, you want and need to terminate the pregnancy—and now find the door slammed in your face.
We need to call this fascist Texas law for what it is: Forced motherhood is enslavement of half of humanity!
2. As Bob Avakian said many years ago, and as is even more directly true today:
The whole question of the position and role of women in society is more and more acutely posing itself in today’s extreme circumstances—this is a powderkeg in the U.S. today. It is not conceivable that all this will find any resolution other than in the most radical terms and through extremely violent means. The question yet to be determined is: will it be a radical reactionary or a radical revolutionary resolution, will it mean the reinforcing of the chains of enslavement or the shattering of the most decisive links in those chains and the opening up of the possibility of realizing the complete elimination of all forms of such enslavement.
As we revcoms have said in our Declaration and Call To Get Organized Now For A Real Revolution, “There is a way to a world and a future that is worth living, and is worth fighting for right now: revolution—a real revolution, not playing around with a few changes that leave this system in place and in power, while benefitting only a small number.” To make that real you, and many people like you, need to find out about this revolution and its leadership, Bob Avakian and learn about “why an actual revolution is necessary, what such a revolution involves, and what kind of society this is aiming for.” Because as the Declaration and Call also states: “Society is being ripped apart. Those who rule are locked in a bitter fight among themselves, and they cannot hold things together in the way they have in the past. Although there are a lot of bad things connected with this and it could lead to something really terrible, it is also possible that we could wrench something really positive out of it—revolution, to put an end to this system and bring something much better into being.”
3. We CANNOT allow this to go down. The streets across the country should be filled with furious and massive outpourings of women and everyone else who feels in their bones that to deny women the right and ability to control their own reproduction is condemning them to slavery... people who are determined to STOP this from happening and dare to act in ways commensurate with the urgent situation. All of society needs to be mobilized to stop this fascist law and all the other attacks on women—and to look deeply into the nature of the society that would allow women to be enslaved in this way. And growing numbers need to lift their sights to and get organized into the only real and tremendously liberating alternative to this system and its intensifying horrors: an actual revolution!
