Nothing Changes Until We Address the Systemic Change
Responding to the announcement of
Revolution and Religion: A Dialogue Between Cornel West and Bob Avakian

I think this is important because it will open up some dialogue and get people to start thinking. Because you know, a lot of times, people's thoughts need to be seasoned. No dialogue, no discussion right now, gives people no reason to think and to look into our oppression and see what's happening, but I think this is going to raise some questions and it's going to definitely address and deal with some issues that people deal with, and a lot of people won't even talk about. At least they're talking about what others won't talk about, what's going to be discussed. Like who the real enemy is and what the real enemy is. The fact that we're applying band aids on a system—that we're looking, we got a fly swatter and we're putting out flies, we be swatting flies and we keep swatting flies and they keep coming and keep coming, and we refuse to search for the maggots and find out where the maggots are that are producing the flies. And so we get tired. Like going from protest to protest to rallies. Instead of looking at the source of where the flies are coming from, where the maggots are. And right now, unfortunately, the maggots are America. You know America is a big maggot in terms of what it perpetuates and what it produces. And flies are just like these little eyes. And nothing changes and it's not going to ever change, until the system, until we address the systemic change.
