In the face of the election of the fascists Trump and Pence in the United States, many false illusions have been spread to put people to sleep in the face of the perilous danger they represent for the whole world. Here we present the truth about these false illusions.

1. “It does not affect us here”: The truth is that it is a deadly threat for the whole planet.

It doesn’t affect us? On what planet do you live? Position yourself on the Earth, where a fascist “president-elect” of the United States affects everyone. Trump defends the use of unbridled violence, terror, torture, and even nuclear weapons, to “restore U.S. greatness.” His plan includes more devastating wars for empire, blatant white supremacy, and the persecution and subjugation of Blacks, Latinos, indigenous peoples, and other people of color in the U.S.; the persecution, deportation, and/or internment of immigrants and Muslims; the violent subjugation of women under a vicious patriarchal order, the continued repression of homosexuals, lesbians, and trans people, and the accelerated destruction of the environment and life on Earth. No one should close their eyes or remain quiet in the face of such crimes against humanity. Let us not accept that “we” end up in the Río Bravo [Grande]. We must take sides for humanity. If this fascist regime is consolidated in the U.S., it would mean a terrible leap forward in the brutal destruction of human lives by the capitalist-imperialist system and it will reinforce the growing fascist forces in other parts of the world.

Let us also face the fact that Mexico and the Mexicans are a central target in Trump’s racist and chauvinistic (patriotic) diatribes: Mexicans and Muslims are, to Trump, what the Jews were to Hitler. He slanders Mexican migrants as “rapists and criminals,” threatens to tax or confiscate migrants’ remittances to pay for the expansion of the border wall, deport two or three million people shortly after taking office, eliminate the temporary measures that protected some immigrants from deportation, and increase the militarization of the border. He emboldens fascist hordes who are already attacking immigrants and people of Latin American descent in general in the United States. The possible massive deportation of fellow Mexicans will greatly intensify the suffering in Mexico, in the current situation of very little economic growth and lack of employment, budget cuts (in education, health, etc.), the depreciation of Mexican currency, and the coming decrease in remittances, which are an important support for many families, as well as the sharpening of the war against the people: murders, disappearances, kidnappings, torture, and unjust imprisonment at the hands of the state and its partner, organized crime.

It is up to all of us to stand up and fight to stop the fascist regime that Trump/Pence and their team seek to impose, joining our voices and our bodies in the efforts of the fighters in the U.S. who declare “NO! In the name of humanity, we refuse to accept a fascist America!” We need the closest unity among the people in the U.S., Mexico, and around the world to combat and defeat this threat for all mankind. It is up to us here in Mexico to expose and combat this fascism as part of the struggle to overthrow the system that spawned it, and create a much better world.

2. “What’s done is done” — They already elected him, nothing can be done: The truth is that it is possible and very necessary to prevent them from consolidating a fascist regime.

In the face of fascism, this saying means accepting what is unacceptable and accommodating instead of resisting. NO! No way! We must call out and fight right now to prevent this regime from taking office and to have full power to carry out this fascist program. There is no reason to respect Trump’s election: Both the elected candidate and the process itself are completely illegitimate. He lost the election by more than 2.7 million votes, and it was only thanks to the Electoral College, an institution created in the past to defend slavery in the United States, that he was elected president. Even more importantly, the fascist regime he represents is a grave danger to the future of humanity and is therefore illegitimate.

Many who saw Trump as a danger when he was a candidate now seek to collaborate with the “president-elect,” especially the political leaders of the system. Obama said he would do everything he could to make Trump “successful,” because his success would be “America’s success.” Hillary Clinton said that we have to “give him a chance.” The big media lie saying that Trump is becoming “moderate,” to “normalize” this fascism. Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto, who once said that Trump was a fascist similar to Mussolini, now claims to be “optimistic” and “resolved” to work with the Trump government and to collaborate with fascism. So this despicable chief assassin [Peña Nieto], who is responsible for the massacres in Ayotzinapa, Nochixtlán, Tlatlaya, Tanhuato, Apatzingán, and so many other crimes, now boasts of kissing the ass of those who plot open terror in the service of greater exploitation and oppression of the whole world. And not only are the PAN and the PRD [Mexican ruling parties] on this tip, but also Andrés Manuel López Obrador [AMLO; a so-called opposition Mexican ruling class figure], who says he would support Peña Nieto, according to him, in order to protect the migrants, but in fact AMLO does this in order to show the Mexican ruling classes who are collaborating with Trump’s fascism, how “reasonable” he is. AMLO says that we should not worry because supposedly Mexico is sovereign and that if somebody honest was president (supposedly he is referring to himself), Trump would respect him, which in fact implies that he is willing to collaborate with this fascism that is trying to consolidate itself in power in the U.S. All these “leaders” represent the interests of the capitalist-imperialist system, they conciliate with the fascist program that is an extreme expression of the same system, and they strive to disorient and disarm the masses who are going to suffer major horrors under this regime.

The Trump/Pence regime causes anguish, fear and outrage among millions in the U.S. and among billions worldwide, and if this outrage turns into massive and determined resistance on the streets of the U.S., and if there is resistance in Mexico and other countries, this can lead to a political crisis that prevents Trump and Pence from consolidating their fascist regime. Mexico, with so many ties and people within the United States, has an important role to play in international protest in unity with the broad masses protesting within the U.S. The struggle of millions can bring down presidents. For example, we saw it in Egypt a few years ago, when millions protested and Mubarak fell. The time to stop fascism is now, BEFORE it imprisons or kills its opponents and eliminates any right to dissent. This struggle is crucial to stop fascism. In addition, preventing this regime from governing would contribute to creating much more favorable conditions to hasten the revolution to end the system that produced it.

The question for everyone is: Which side are you going to get with? Will you be with those who resist, with the masses who are confronting and will confront this capitalist-imperialist beast and fight for a more just world? Or will you accommodate with a fascist America with all the horrors that entails?

3. “It’s going to be good, it’s an opportunity for independent development”: The truth is that Trump promises to oppress and exploit Mexico more ruthlessly.

Independent development? In your dreams! Trump and Pence are not going to “leave alone” Mexico or any other oppressed country. Quite the opposite. They seek greater conquest, “jump-started” domination, a more voracious, more hegemonic, and more ruthless American empire than ever, to be reinforced as the undisputed number one exploiting power in the world. Listen to what Trump says: He is not an “isolationist” as misguided commentators say; he is an imperialist who demands “greater advantages” for the U.S. (as he said about renegotiating NAFTA [North American Free Trade Agreement]). In other words: Greater super-exploitation of workers, greater plundering of natural resources, greater devastation of the environment, and greater servility on the part of its junior partners who govern the oppressed countries. The United States would not exist as it is, if it had not robbed large territories from Mexico by means of war. The domination of Mexico has been a key piece for the American empire, economically and strategically. This domination is the most important root of the economic, political and social catastrophe in Mexico. The capitalist-imperialist system imposes dependent capitalist development in Mexico (and the other oppressed countries), a highly destructive “development” governed by profitability and the strategic interests of imperialism, and especially of U.S. imperialism. No president at the head of American capitalism-imperialism is going to let go of his domination over Mexico. Trump seeks to double down on it, and only communist revolution will break the chain of the world capitalist-imperialist system; will establish a new socialist economic and political system and will create a development that corresponds to the interests of the people, independent of imperialist domination, as a transition towards the emancipation of all humanity, a communist world.

4. “Trump is just more of the same”: The truth is that fascism is the blatant terrorist dictatorship of the imperialist capitalists.

It would be a very serious mistake to underestimate the danger of fascism and not to fight against it, by thinking that “it’s no big deal”.

Trump and Pence represent the same system and the same capitalist-imperialist ruling class as the previous governments in the U.S., but the fascist regime they will impose (if we do not stop it) will not be the simple continuation of “the same.” Let’s look at the Nazi regime in Germany in the 1930s. It drastically changed the whole society and incinerated six million Jews, as well as communists, Roma people (gypsies), and dissidents in general. Let’s look at the Pinochet regime in Chile in the 1970s: It unleashed a reign of terror, disappearing and murdering opponents and banning all forms of protest for many years. Was it “the same” as the Allende government or even the Christian Democrats who took office when Pinochet was finally removed from power? It should be obvious that the answer is, no.

What is fascism? Paraphrasing revcom.us: It is the exercise of the blatant dictatorship by the bourgeois (capitalist-imperialist) class, ruling through the use of open violence and terror, trampling on what are supposed to be civil and legal rights, using the power of the state and mobilizing organized groups of fanatic thugs to commit atrocities against the masses, in particular against the masses of people designated as “enemies,” “undesirables,” or “dangers to society.”

We need to fight to stop fascism, because it will greatly intensify the suffering of humanity and put its future in grave danger. We need to stop this regime, before it takes the reins of power in the U.S., because it will use this power to intimidate and violently repress all voices of opposition, critical thinking and dissent, and to reinforce its brutal domination in the world. Stopping fascism is a vital and urgent necessity, precisely in order to fight for the greatest goal of emancipating humanity from all kinds of oppression and subjugation.

The revolutionary communists are very aware that the United States, while it has the capitalist-imperialist system, is committing and will commit horrific crimes against the people, in the United States and throughout the world, whether its state is bourgeois democratic or fascist. We know that under Obama, nearly three million immigrants were deported, that Bill Clinton and Obama built hundreds of miles of wall on the border. We know that the two governments waged criminal wars for empire in the Middle East and other regions; in the 1990s, Clinton continued the sanctions and bombings that killed 500,000 Iraqi children caused by denying them drinking water, medicines, food, and public health; in the U.S., they reinforced the oppression of women, undermined the right to abortion won in the 1960s, oppressed Blacks, Latinos, indigenous peoples, defended the slow genocide of these nationalities through police murder and mass incarceration, and increased environmental disaster, among many other atrocities. And we know, to a large extent their actions paved the way for the establishment of fascism in the U.S., even if they have their differences with the fascists on how best to defend the system that they all represent. Nevertheless, it is essential to fight the attempt to impose fascism, not in order to restore bourgeois democracy, but to contribute to creating the best conditions to overthrow the capitalist-imperialist system as a whole.

5. “The democratic institutions (in the United States or the UN) will not allow them to do it”: The truth is that they will act quickly to try to consolidate their control of the state in the U.S. and to suppress whatever is an obstacle to their plan. The UN has no power to stop them.

First, the democratic institutions of the capitalist-imperialist system are also instruments of the monopoly of power by the bourgeois class. Although the way to exercise that power in a bourgeois democratic state is very different from a fascist regime, both are forms of dictatorship of the same class. That is why the Democratic Party in the U.S. has conciliated with the fascists, and now it will not mobilize people and will not lead a determined struggle against the fascist regime of Trump and Pence because they fear the “danger” of mass rebellion and are much more opposed to a true revolution, than to the fascism that will be imposed by other sections of their own class.

In addition, if the fascists take power, they will already have control of the Congress, and Trump will appoint fascism-minded judges to the Supreme Court and federal courts. They will take control of the different branches of the government and they will suppress institutions that do not agree with their agenda. Regarding the UN, it is a multilateral institution without real power, dominated by the same capitalist-imperialist system that created it. Trump also said that “as for the UN, things will be different after January 20.”

No “savior” will come from above, from the halls of power, to lead the determined and massive struggle necessary to prevent this fascist regime from taking office in the U.S. But there ARE many millions of people in the U.S. and around the world worried and outraged by the Trump-Pence victory, who can and do need to get organized to do prevent this from happening.

6. “They talk about Trump in order to distract us from the real problem, which is the government in Mexico”: The truth is that the real problem is the world capitalist-imperialist system and the Mexican government is its loyal servant.

Fighting against the Trump-Pence regime will not to distract us from the problem. In and of itself it is central to the problem. As we have said, “the government in Mexico” is the defender and servant of the capitalist-imperialist system, and above all of U.S. imperialism. Of course we need to fight against the Mexican government, but not only against “the government,” but against the system that this government represents and defends. Mexican President Peña Nieto and his government call us to take up “national unity”, not to fight against the regime of Trump and Pence, but to collaborate with this fascist, imperialist, racist, and misogynist regime, and perhaps try to bargain some small concessions in order to protect and expand imperialist investments, which are decisive for maintaining capitalism in Mexico and the state that defends it. None of the bourgeois political parties are mounting any serious resistance against the threats and slanders of Trump (and others in his cabinet) against migrants and Mexicans in general. They assure us that they are “prepared” for the deportation of millions of Mexicans: Oh yes, like when they promised us that the energy reform would lead to lower prices for gasoline and electricity! Whoever believes them must not have been paying attention!

We must fight against fascism, not to maintain or reinforce the “democratic” form of the same system that is exploiting, oppressing, killing, and subjugating us, but to weaken it and to strengthen and prepare the broad sections of society that need a real revolution to truly end this system of destruction and death, to emancipate the people in Mexico, and to contribute to this same revolution throughout the world.

Down with Trump, Down with Peña, Down with the whole system!
Everyone into the streets against the fascist regime of Trump/Pence and its bootlickers in Mexico!
The problem is the capitalist-imperialist system, the solution is the communist revolution!
