Protesters from the Chicago Revolution Club, RefuseFascism.org, and others blocked southbound traffic on Lake Shore Drive during this afternoon’s rush hour to denounce the assault on immigrants and the “Trump-fueled white supremacist murders in El Paso.” They called for people to “Drive Out the Trump/Pence fascist regime,” demanded a world “without borders,” and declared “the Revolution Club is organizing for revolution.” The several dozen protesters stopped traffic for 15 minutes before continuing with their march through downtown.

At an August 7 press conference, Chicago organizers issued the following message:

“After the white supremacist murders in El Paso… after the concentration camps on the border and the torture of children… after “send them back”… WHICH SIDE ARE YOU ON? Are you on the side of white supremacy and fascism? Or are you on the side of ending this oppression?”

Noche Diaz, spokesperson for the National Revolution Tour, said: “The horror now going on will not be solved by “gun control.” The problem is this imperialist system, the white supremacy that is knitted into its every fiber, and the fact that there are too many guns in the hands of those fighting for fascism and not enough fighting spirit among the people who give a damn. Every person who has a conscience and cares about humanity really does have to get off their ass, stop waiting for 2020, and do something NOW.”
