A Former Prisoner Who Became a Revolutionary Communist:

I’m not as eloquent as a lot of other people. I had to learn about revolution when I went to prison....

I met a lot of brothers in prison who were in the Black Panther Party and the Young Lords. That’s where I learned about Revolution—I was introduced to the work of George Jackson—Soledad Brother—I loved that book. We had meetings with the BPP and the Young Lords. That’s what made me a revolutionary but when I got out of prison I met the RCP when I was living in the projects. I got into debates and arguments with the brothers and the sisters. It brought me to science.

I met Raymond Lotta and traveled with the Speaking tour “Setting the Record Straight,” talking with students at Barnard College and Columbia University, the University of Chicago and Harvard. You see before that I had read a lot of that old stuff and frankly a lot of it didn’t make a lot of sense to me. I started reading Bob Avakian and he was breaking it down—he was being scientific all the way. That’s what impressed me about BA. There’s this story from his memoir. I actually had a problem with the title of that book! “FROM IKE TO MAO AND BEYOND!” I'm sayin’ “how the FUCK you gonna go BEYOND Mao?!” He tells this story where he asked Eldridge Cleaver why he’s got this picture of Mao on his wall and Eldridge told him “’Cause he’s the baddest motherfucker on this planet!” Well I found out that Marxism is not a dogma, It’s a living, breathing, moving thing and it’s Bob Avakian who has taken it beyond. He is the one who has made the leaps with this science and right now HE is the Baddest mother fucker on this planet!

We live in a world that is run by these capitalists and it’s a system that is completely worthless and needs to be overthrown. Capitalism is killing Black people, destroying the planet and it needs to be overthrown. People need to support this tour because this is making it clear to people we need a whole new world and we got a leader and his name is Bob Avakian. People can come to see what I see, what I came to understand and become FULL BLOWN COMMUNISTS.
