ALERT: As we go to press, an attempt to stop Camp Free Mumia is underway--Philadelphia police are attempting to deny permits for the encampment. Organizers expressed to city officials that this denial of permit is totally unacceptable political persecution--and pointed to the fact that during the Republican Convention right wing supporters of the death penalty were allowed to set up tents for 24 hours daily. And organizers report confidence that they will win a legal action for the encampment permit. Protest organizers have urged people to fax letters to Mayor John Street at 215-686-2180 demanding that protesters be permitted to stay in front of City Hall over the nights of Friday, May 11 and Saturday, May 12.
We cannot allow the police to suppress the rights of the people to protest at Camp Free Mumia!
