Welcome to the revcom.us forum
The revcom.us forum is focusing discussion on the New Year's Statement from Bob Avakian, A NEW YEAR, THE URGENT NEED FOR A RADICALLY NEW WORLD—FOR THE EMANCIPATION OF ALL HUMANITY, and related questions.
We have posted, to begin, questions that were raised by participants during the February 6 "Zoom into the Revolution" online seminar. We invite everyone to submit your own comments and questions, including responding to those of other participants in this forum.
Ask a scientist
I agree with this suggestion. I think some scientists are not thoroughly scientific, ruthlessly scientific as BA said you have to be in order to really and fundamentally change the world. I was thinking along similar lines when I heard the astrophysicist Neil Degrasse Tyson say that he can't bring himself to think of economics as a science. He was commenting on the Nobel Price. he understood why physicist, chemist, etc., are sciences, but not economics. I think it has to do that people don't think you can extend science to society. As if humans couldn't organize society along the lines of a mode of production that provided for all humanity and the planet. As if we weren't capable of organizing the world to serve those needs. To build societies organized on the basis of the New Communism, The Constitution. The capitalist want us to believe that the MARKET is some kind of mysterious force whose signs we await--like an oracle. What is the market doing? What is it telling us? As if it weren't their own system that set these forces in motion.
