Food for thought from a reader:

What Does #ShutDownA14 Need to Look Like?

April 1, 2015 | Revolution Newspaper | revcom.us

Trains, buses, rapid transit, and public transportation of all types could be mobile protests sites heading to convergences, or just creating mass disruption of business as usual. Students should take over buildings and rename them in honor of stolen lives (Tamir Rice Building) and could walk out and take over expressways and thoroughfares, demanding a different society where murder by police—including of 12 year old children!—is NO MORE.

Signs and banners are everywhere—identify your contingents from your school, campus and community and church with signs that read: "SUCH AND SUCH A UNIVERSITY/or high school etc. SAYS NO MORE!"  Dozens of these from campuses in every city will inspire people all around the world.

College students should pull out high school students and high school students should pull out college students.  Faculty and educators should "have the backs of the students" and join the protests, and, yes, take part in righteous civil disobedience.

City halls in cities large and small should be occupied like it was in Madison.  Police precincts in neighborhoods—sit-ins to block them from carrying out their "normal function" of screwing with and brutalizing people all day and night, and often doing much worse, including claiming the lives of hundreds and hundreds of innocent people.

Blow The Whistle On Brutal, Murdering Police! Pierce the "normalcy" of mass murder of Black and Brown by police and be a part of the cacophony of sights and sound on April 14.

The ports should be shut down.  Critical Mass bike clubs should organize rides against police brutality and disrupt traffic.  Church groups and restorative justice committees: organize yourselves... spill out into the streets... and make it to the convergences with your contingents.  Or maybe churches congregations should fill buses and take them to convergence sites.

Celebrities!  Speak out.  You have a disproportionate role to play and a responsibility.  Don't stand aside while our youth are being murdered.

Athletes! STOP the games, and have 4 1/2 minutes of silence for Michael Brown.

Lawyers!  Make your way to the civil or criminal courthouse, and "die in" in the morning of April 14.

Doctors, nurses, and medical students!  We have a health emergency: Black and Brown lives are being stolen and destroyed by police.  #WhiteCoatsForBlackLives touched people throughout society... that needs to spread.

Unfurl a banner at the symphony—April 14!  Stop Murder by Police.  Artists and singers and music groups: dedicate part of your performance to the Stolen Lives who have been taken by the police.

ALL OUT! No School! No Work! No Business as Usual!
