Why You—and Everyone You Know Who Wants a Better World—Should Come to the Preview Screening of the Film of Bob Avakian’s Speech WHY WE NEED AN ACTUAL REVOLUTION AND HOW WE CAN REALLY MAKE REVOLUTION

This next weekend, the film of Bob Avakian’s speech—Why We Need An Actual Revolution And How We Can Really Make Revolution—will be previewed in a number of cities. This will kick off a process where people are broadly taking out the film in many ways, including previewing it to others, to spread the word for the online premiere on October 19-21.

We want to answer some questions about this:

Who should come to these previews? Everyone who hates the outrages and horrors that this system constantly brings down and wants to know WHY they happen... everyone who has wondered whether we need a revolution and wants to know how this could actually come about... everyone who wants to act right now but doesn’t know how... all should come to the previews of this film. Bob Avakian (BA) gets deeply into these questions. There has never been a film like this on this subject before—a film that goes so deeply and so clearly into the hardest questions humanity faces... and in just a little over two hours!

So to anyone who fits any part of the description above: Come to the preview and bring people you know who have a feeling in their gut that things have to change.

What will this film do? This film will let everyone who sees it learn that there IS a way out of this madness, and there is leadership for the struggle to make that way real. Today in the face of monstrous oppression here and around the world, people do not know that a radically different and better world IS possible—because they don’t know about this revolution and its leader, Bob Avakian. Bob Avakian has broken through on the problems in understanding that have stood in the way of making an actual revolution, and keeping that revolution going on the road to the full emancipation of humanity.

So spreading the word is the most basic thing to do to make the huge change that humanity needs. This film will be the basis of a movement that goes to work on bringing forward thousands and then millions to be part of a movement FOR fundamental change... for an ACTUAL revolution. What each of us does and what we do together in an organized way with this film this fall—beginning with the previews—are crucial first steps.

What will happen at the previews? After we watch the film, and share thoughts and responses with each other, we’ll talk about how to take this film to others, now. We’ll share ideas on where to take it, from the smallest to the biggest. We’ll get into ideas on fundraising. We’ll have materials there—palm cards, posters, and so on—for people to use. We’ll make plans for all of that. And we’ll talk about ways to get deeper into what BA gets into in this film.

How should we build the previews after this weekend? We, on our own or as part of a group, should take this to people we know and people we don’t know and to wherever people are fighting the power, in ways big and small. We should take this to religious congregations, student groups, classes and youth groups, friends and relatives, people involved in different struggles, barbershops and beauty parlors, and wherever people gather. Key tools like posters, palm cards, flyers, and other materials can be gotten through the Revolution Club, The Bob Avakian Institute, or Revolution Books bookstores to help get the word out. Those of us on social media can spread it on that. The main thing: Bring people’s attention to this speech coming out on film this fall, and that there are preview screenings for it now. Working together to do this is one big way to build up revolutionary organization.

Naturally, previews will and should include a lot of people who will still want to think further about the film before getting active. That’s part of the process we’re trying to start. We should continue to stay on with those people, letting them know about what’s coming up, and working to find ways that they can participate while they reflect on what they’ve seen.

We should definitely pass the hat at the end of any preview we do and, more than that, brainstorm on ways we can raise funds to really project this first to hundreds of thousands and then to millions.

How big does a preview screening have to be? The movement for revolution is going all out for the screenings this weekend, so those should be big. We should try to set up screenings of groups of people wherever we can, like it says above. But setting up screenings of even a few people can play a very important role in spreading the word. IMPORTANT: At the previews, people who want to be part of spreading the film will be given a way to access and show the film before the online premiere.

Who can spread this film? Everyone. Even if you’ve just met the revolution and BA through this film, there are ways for you to take it out and to support the movement... ways to be part of making this a much bigger thing. And it’s more than that too. There are things you know and ideas you will have that are needed to really make this take off as powerfully as it can. No matter how much or how little time you can devote to this, there is a place for you and an important role you can play!
