"Break ALL the Chains" Celebration in New York City
A Day of "Fury, Passion and Hope for a Different Future"

In New York, about 80 people gathered over the course of the afternoon at Chenchita's Angels Community Garden – a fittingly beautiful and wild oasis of greenery in East Harlem (El Barrio) – to celebrate the publication of Break ALL the Chains! Bob Avakian on the Emancipation of Women and the Communist Revolution . An amazingly diverse array of people contributed to the event hosted by the BA Everywhere Campaign, all responding to and appreciating in various ways the work BA has done on the centrality of the liberation of women to real revolution.
Mexican hip-hop, a French singer-songwriter, an anti-folk band, rap, comedy and poetry, young people from the Revolution Club and a young woman preparing to go join the Abortion Rights Freedom Ride were all on stage, woven together with readings from the Break ALL the Chains! pamphlet. A statement from an "infuriated" gay woman declared: "Now is the time to stand up and use my anger to change this world, to use my anger to fuel love for a better world, to be productive about it instead of perpetually talking about it."
Fury, passion and hope for a different future poured from the stage in words and music. After the program, people stayed in the garden for a good two hours more, talking, eating, debating, laughing, and making plans…
