Report from Stop Patriarchy's New York City 2014 Kick-Off Celebration and Dinner

From a reader and member of StopPatriarchy.org:
Stop Patriarchy hosted its first dinner of the year, with all of the group’s members reuniting and welcoming new friends interested in our movement to emancipate and liberate humanity. This dinner was a way in which we can all re-connect, reflect on what Stop Patriarchy has done so far and encourage others to move forward with us for the coming year. As we were awaiting our new friends’ arrival, we cooked up some good meals and prepared for an eventful night. We were greeted with food and desserts from our guests. After we dined, laughed and had some meaningful talks in the room of about thirty friends, a core of us who have been part of this movement for a while welcomed folks and made a few presentations: one of us read Stop Patriarchy's Call to Action, which describes our goal to end pornography and patriarchy, as both of them enforce the enslavement and degradation of women; one of us read a statement on why Stop Patriarchy is taking up the fight against pornography and why it is needed; and one of us gave us a mini science lesson, displaying a banner explaining why a fetus is not a baby and why abortion is not murder. Sunsara Taylor then introduced herself and discussed Stop Patriarchy’s beginning and overall goals moving forward. After that, we opened our table up for introductions and found that everyone in the room were just as outraged and just as ready to take on this fight for women’s liberation, whether it was against pornography or the never-ending restrictions on abortion rights that have been making headlines across this country.
