Stand up and Oppose the January 20 Fascist “Gun Rights” Rally in Richmond, Virginia!

Bob Avakian, the leader of the revolution, has said, “There is a direct line from the Confederacy to the fascists of today.” This not only applies to the whole presidency of Donald Trump, but very sharply and immediately to the phony “gun rights” protest being held in Richmond, Virginia on January 20.

For anyone with a sense of the history of this country, its founding in slavery followed by the terror of KKK lynch mobs, the significance of this rally by mainly white supremacists is unmistakable and vicious: on Martin Luther King Day, in the South. White militia reportedly will be coming here after attending a Lee-Jackson Day rally three days before, commemorating leaders of the Confederacy who fought for slavery in the original Civil War. Social media by attendees calls for white “ethno-state” and “boogaloo,” “an event that will accelerate the race war,” shaping contours of a new civil war.  

Trump has endorsed open assertions of white supremacy from the presidential bully pulpit, fanning flames of violence. In the last year, there have been multiple mass shootings targeting immigrants and Jewish people—in El Paso and Gilroy, in synagogues in Pittsburgh and California. Think about how “pro-gun rights” forces and organizations leapt to the defense of “gun rights” in their wake. “Gun rights” is their thin veil on a basic program to impose their vision on the rest of society, with violence if necessary. A vision that reaches to the history of this country and draws from current reality to reinforce and impose white supremacy, misogyny and American chauvinism as ruling norms of a fascistic society—increasingly openly dictatorial.

The politics and program of this rally support and are supported by the Trump/Pence fascist regime in power. Trump constantly implies threats of violence against political opponents and calls for them to be tried for treason. This has escalated to fever pitch now with his impeachment. While Trump and his fascist thugs falsely claim this impeachment is illegitimate and even a coup(!), the facts are that Trump and his whole regime have committed great crimes, and what is needed—now more than ever—is sustained, nonviolent mass mobilization, demanding Out Now! These protests must continue and grow until the whole Trump/Pence regime is driven from power, in line with the call and program of #OUTNOW, at RefuseFascism.org.

The white supremacy, misogyny and other horrors these fascists fight to impose and intensify are completely unnecessary! The demonization of immigrants, the environmental destruction, and wars for empire are not human nature. They all flow from the workings of a system—capitalism-imperialism, which requires the brutal grinding exploitation of billions for profit and the oppression of whole nations and half of humanity to back it up, and that functions through cut-throat competition among the capitalist-imperialists themselves that continually leads to disaster of one kind or another.

This system cannot be reformed. It MUST be overthrown through an ACTUAL revolution.

And this can be done! We have the leadership, in Bob Avakian and the vanguard he leads to carry that forward. Because of his leadership, we have the science and the strategy for an ACTUAL revolution, and the concrete vision of the future radically different society, in the Constitution for the New Socialist Republic in North America authored by him. We call on all those who long for this better world: Get organized into the revolution! Join the Revolution Club. We stand against everything these fascists are working to impose on humanity here and around the world. And in contrast to the reactionary fascist violence being implicitly, and in some cases explicitly, threatened, with parallels to Charlottesville, the Points of Attention of the Revolution Club clearly state:

We are going for an actual overthrow of this system and a whole better way beyond the destructive, vicious conflicts of today between the people. Because we are serious, at this stage we do not initiate violence and we oppose all violence against the people and among the people.

We call on all people of conscience to protest, to oppose the fascist thugs with a different vision of the future than the nightmarish hell they represent and are fighting for.
