Resolve.
That word describes the feel of the Saturday demonstration held by Refuse Fascism in front of—and around—the White House. Around 250 people were there to hear the new indictment of the Trump Regime be powerfully read, to encircle the White House again with crime scene tape, and to hear nearly a dozen powerful speakers chart out what has been learned and what must be done. These were people from diverse backgrounds who, over the past months, had come together to bring something new forward… who had made the first important steps in doing that… who had battled back against those who tried to divide and conquer… and who were still determined to fight.
They confronted the fact that they still had an argument to wage and win with the tens of millions of decent people in this country. These are people who cannot deny the power of Refuse Fascism’s arguments and who agree with its demand that Trump Must Go Now--but still hope that RF is wrong when it insists that the mid-terms will be too late. It is important, in this regard, that the indictment powerfully brings together the many crimes of this regime and paints a dynamic picture. Distributing this indictment in a big way will surely play an important role in the period ahead.
Powerful speakers from different perspectives and fronts of struggle talked about the challenges and how to meet them. We want to note here Sunsara Taylor’s speech, including its powerful answer to the attacks that had been launched against Bob Avakian, the revolutionary leader and architect of the new communism. Sunsara got into what Bob Avakian actually stands for. She refuted the way that opportunists and reactionaries have tried to drive a wedge between Refuse Fascism and the revcoms who have fought to build the broad unity that Refuse Fascism is fighting for.
We will be featuring speeches as they become available on the Refuse Fascism website. Today we are sharing some of what has been posted already on the RF website.
In sum, this was a serious, purposeful group… that could still sing out with conviction and with what Andy Zee called “the joy in fighting for a better future for humanity.” Both the sense of purpose, the deep conviction and, yes, the joy came through when the rally ended with the Refuse Fascism slogan being bellowed out: IN THE NAME OF HUMANITY, WE REFUSE TO ACCEPT A FASCIST AMERICA!
