Defying Trump’s Threats and His Military Parade: Refuse Fascism Led a March of over 1,000 people to the White House

Saturday, June 14, on the day of Trump’s fascist military parade, with military force being deployed in Los Angeles, and in defiance of the outright threat from Trump that any protest in Washington, DC would be met with “very big force,” over a thousand people marched with RefuseFascism.org to the White House.

The determination and conviction of the marchers broke a spell of fear of protesting in DC on the day of Trump’s military parade.

Refuse Fascism spokesperson Sunsara Taylor said: “Now is NOT the time to give into fear. If you go down that road of hiding, of being afraid of letting Trump’s fascist intimidation silence you, of voluntarily giving up your rights and the lives of immigrants today and trans people tomorrow—and who knows who is next the next day—if you go down that road, there are greater and greater horrors. And you lose your humanity as you watch the humanity of others be destroyed.”

Featured speakers included Ralph, a military veteran and former federal employee; Jim Keady, a longtime activist and former city council member from Asbury Park, NJ; Sophie Zoe Kilmer, a trans activist and attorney; and Sunsara Taylor, co-initiator of Refuse Fascism and co-host of The RNL—Revolution, Nothing Less!—Show.

Speakers and signs denounced the violation of the rule of law, of due process, of the U.S. Constitution and the attacks on senators, congresspeople, governors, and mayors who oppose the regime as sharp evidence of the momentum towards a fascist America. Several speakers exposed and denounced the inhumanity and unconstitutionality of the immigrant raids/the military/Guard in LA and the scale and scope of the regime’s assault on people’s lives.

Several times throughout the day, marchers raised their fists and recited the slogan and demand of Refuse Fascism, which united a crowd of diverse political views: “In the Name of Humanity, We Refuse to Accept a Fascist America. Trump Must Go Now!”

And across the country at No Kings Day protests, Refuse Fascism was in the crowd with orange signs that said "Trump Must Go Now." Millions took to the streets in cities and towns to voice their righteous opposition to Trump’s military parade.

Sunsara Taylor spoke of the challenge to all the decent people in this country:
“Today we refused to fall silent. We refused to accept Trumps threats against the people as he parades his fascist military in front of the world. The numbers in the streets today show there is a force that will stand up against Trump. But unless and until this fascism is defeated, unless and until this regime is driven from power, the regime will barrel over even the most righteous resistance.
