A Fundraising Weekend with the Los Angeles REVCOM CORPS For The Emancipation Of Humanity

In this critical moment, on the eve of the elections and the craziness which is very likely to ensue, when millions are beginning to be jolted into political life, THE REVCOM CORPS For The Emancipation Of Humanity called for a week of creative out-to-the-masses fundraising for the campaign to get @BobAvakianOfficial everywhere. The purpose of this was, 1) to raise funds so that this campaign can reach millions through online ads and other means; 2) to introduce thousands of new people to Bob Avakian’s unique revolutionary voice and lift their sights to a whole other way the world can be; 3) and involve lots of new people in working together to raise the funds and forge growing networks of support for BA and this revolution.

At a community college the day before Halloween we raised $31 doing face painting at a cultural event that we were invited to. We also connected with a student group that invited us to their meeting, and a sociology professor who wants to have us speak in his class.

We went door to door in a neighborhood in South Central introducing people to BA and his message #101 about the “choices” in this election and the need for revolution, asking for funds to get his voice before millions, and raised about $50.

We raised $57 sold champurrado (Mexican hot chocolate and corn drink) and did face painting at a Halloween festival in South Central.

We went out to a couple grocery stores in the area and asked for cash donations as well as donations of the ingredients we need for the international plate sale on Sunday. One woman came back after reading @BobAvakianOfficial #101 with a bunch of boxes of food!

We raised $281 at a Day of the Dead festival selling champurrado and pepinos con tajín (Mexican style spicy cucumbers), using ingredients donated by people the day before.

Today we are aiming to meet and surpass our $700 goal with a plate sale featuring food donated and cooked mainly by new volunteers.
