Prisoner Responds to Bob Avakian’s Articles on Ukraine: “I don’t remember the U.S. media prioritizing, to such a high extent, the lives of the Iraqi children and civilians”

Editors’ note: We at revcom.us periodically publish letters from prisoners on revolutionary theory and struggle, as well as other aspects of human experience and thought, including conditions and struggle within the prisons themselves. We sometimes edit these letters. We appreciate and learn from all correspondence from the prisons. The opinions in the letters we publish are those of the writers and not necessarily those of revcom.us.

In response to what Bob Avakian says in the articles pertaining to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, I agree, I don’t see how anyone can’t notice the blatant hypocrisy of the United States and its NATO allies. Where was the condemnation from the “international” “community” when the United States invaded Iraq and dropped drone missiles all over the Middle East since then? What makes Vladimir Putin worser than George Bush and his father? I might have been too young during the U.S. invasion of Iraq and I was probably too busy watching cartoons to notice the news. But I definitely don’t remember the U.S. media prioritizing, to such a high extent, the lives of the Iraqi children and civilians.

Yes, the hypocrisy should make you upset. “But why you bring up old news?” To get you to understand that the ruling capitalist government of the United States and Western Europe are playing to your human sentiments, to side with them against Russia and their ruling capitalist powers. That, as the U.S. government says, “Vladimir Putin and the Kremlin are threatening peace in the world.” No! The continuing existence of the economic system of capitalism-imperialism is threatening Peace in the world. The American and Western European governments and the ruling class they represent are as much of heartless inhuman murderous savages as the Russian government and the capitalist class they represent. Same with the Chinese capitalist-imperialist who share fully the false claim communism, who have shown their ruthlessness and will remind the world of its viciousness when it decides it’s ready to go after Taiwan.

So, the bottom line is that the superpowers of the world, both in the West and East are forced into barbarism due to the economic system of capitalist imperialism which is fueled and requires for its success a societal relationship of exploitation and oppression, and of course, domination, which is why “war” is a matter of course for these capitalist-imperialist countries. There can never be peace in the world. We continue to be ground under by the dictatorship of capitalism, the capitalist class, and its fascist representatives.

The only solution available to humanity, to put an end to the madness, is not siding with the imperialist of your home country against their rivals. But on the contrary, strive to form an international united front here at home and with the people who live in the rest of the capitalist countries, including the supposed “rival” countries. To go against, undermine, cripple and overthrow through revolution, the international capitalist-imperialist governments, wrestle the dictatorship powers away from the capitalist class, and socialize political power to be placed in the hands of the masses, the producers of society. Only then can society experience what real meaningful democracy is. A democracy that safeguards the employment of the means of production and productive forces, towards meeting the needs of humanity at home and internationally. Only then can peace on earth be reached, only then can the Earth begin to heal, and only then can humanity be placed on the course to advance us to the highest stages of humanity and civilization. Humanity must break away from the vicious cycle of savageness and barbarism and leave it in the past where it belongs. Again, I repeat, the only solution is a revolution, overthrow the dictatorship of the capitalist class and guarantee humanity a future worth living.
