from the Refuse Fascism Call for November 5:
“Fascism is not a looming threat. It is upon us now.
“Humanity’s only hope is for the decent people of this country to rise in our millions. We cannot wait for future and rigged elections. We must drive the Trump Fascist Regime from power.”

Surround the White House 1.0 (Part 2)
Sunsara Taylor kicked off day 2 of Surround the White House 1.0 with an impassioned appreciation of the 150 who had turned out and how today we were modeling a pathway for the tens of millions who hate Trump to step forward and be part of coming to DC to drive him out.
A teacher from Virginia forcefully expressed his concern about the futures of students and whether they would act in time to stop fascism. A Black woman student from Howard University addressed people of her generation: “I don't think that we should let fear drive us because things need to change."
The rally closed out with people standing behind stretched-out crime-scene tape and raising their orange and black “Trump Must Go Now!” signs high—in front of the White House, creating a really good image to spread broadly, and calling on people to join us on Monday, November 24 for day 3 of Surround the White House 1.0. (We later heard that MSNOW's (formerly MSNBC) Rachel Maddow covered today’s protest and encouraged her viewers to come to DC for the Trump Must Go and Remove The Regime actions.)
On Saturday, people stretched the crime scene tape halfway around the west side of the White House, a bold action that captured people’s imaginations and sentiments. Footage of this was spread widely, and seen all over the world. For day two, the protesters marched and stretched crime scene tape halfway down the east side of the White House. At the end of the day, Sunsara said: “Now, what does 1.0 imply? 2.0 is coming. There's a 2.0 coming, and a 3.0 coming, and as many more iterations as it takes to get the millions to drive Trump out!” For day 3 next Monday, Sunsara said the aim was to totally surround the White House!

Hundreds Gather for “Remember Your Oath” Veterans Protest and Rally
On Veterans Day hundreds of people, including many U.S. military veterans, turned out for this important action, including some vets who had taken courageous actions to speak out against the war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the U.S. military and by the fascist Trump regime. This was part of nationwide actions called by the vets group About Face. We will cover this action more in depth later.

Military Vets Say NO to a Fascist America
Before the National Veterans Parade, military veterans spoke out against Trump illegitimately deploying the military in U.S. cities, gutting veteran services, and making plans to use the military to “monitor” elections and attack protesters.
Their message to active-duty military and all decent people who do not want to live under fascist rule:
We Reject The “War Department” War on the American People.
Soldiers Take an Oath to the Constitution, Not to a Fascist Tyrant.
Trump Must Go Now!
We will cover this action more in depth later.

March in Columbia Heights Immigrant Neighborhood: “Fuera Donald Trump Ahora! Trump Must Go Now!”
On Day 4 of the unrelenting nonviolent protest in DC to demand Trump Must Go NOW, people marched through Columbia Heights, one of the most densely populated areas in DC, a historically Latino immigrant neighborhood. This neighborhood has been hit hard by ICE gestapo raids over the last several months, and there have been protests against them.
Marchers began near a farmers market, chanting, raising banners, getting out flyers, and calling on people on the street to join. Many of those in the march had been in DC since the November 5 launch of the Trump Must Go Now movement—people who had traveled from around the country to get there, military veterans, people from the Handmaid Army DC (this time dressed as inflatable animals), and others.
As the march went through the streets of the neighborhood, there were chants against ICE and calls to people, in both Spanish and English, to become part of the movement to drive Trump out now. The march grew to about 200 people. People out for shopping or working in the neighborhood listened intently. Some told marchers of the impact of the raids, saying residents were afraid to come out of their houses whenever word spread of ICE being spotted. About 15 people stepped out of homes or left the farmers markets and joined the march.
Ending at a plaza, the marchers broke out in dance—celebrating the day, talking to people from different parts of the country… and determined to not stop until Trump is driven from power.
Tomorrow: Rally and press conference before the National Veterans Parade. Join with U.S. vets to say: We Reject the “War Department” War on the American People. Soldiers Take an Oath to the Constitution, Not to a Fascist Tyrant. Trump Must Go Now! For details, go here.

Hundreds in Front of the Supreme Court Declare: “We judge you… illegitimate!”
Over 200 people gathered at the steps of the Supreme Court for a “Love Won, We’re Not Going Back! Trump must go now” protest. This was the day the Court was deciding whether to hear a case that could lead to overturning marriage equality for same sex couples. And a day after the Court gave a green light to the Trump regime to require that passport sex markers be limited to sex assigned at birth only—another move by MAGA fascists to erase trans and non-binary people from society.
Sunsara Taylor, a national leader of Refuse Fascism and co-host of The RNL—Revolution, Nothing Less!—Show, kicked things off by exposing how the Supreme Court has become an “instrument of Trump’s fascist atrocity.” She said, “The courts will not stop Trump’s fascism. Congress will not stop and has not stopped Trump’s fascism. The only check we have on this terror and atrocities which are intensifying by the day is the masses of people rising up, refusing to accept a fascist America. That is why we are here today, to say hell no, Trump must go!”
Speakers included Reverend Michele H. Morgan, rector of St. Mark's Episcopal Church; Sophia Zoë Kilmer, civil rights attorney and trans rights activist; Camron Hurt, Common Cause Hawaii; Justice Foral, leader with RefuseFascism.org; Luna Hernandez, THE REVCOM CORPS For The Emancipation Of Humanity; Alexandra "Ali" Curd, staff policy attorney for Lambda Legal; Dr. Alli Muhammad MD, the Revolutionary Black Panther Party; Jim Fouratt, gay rights activist, forming member of the Gay Liberation Front; Oye Owolewa, U.S. Shadow Representative for DC; Shelby von Hofe, Policy and Advocacy Manager for NOW. You can see the whole rally online here.
People who had answered the call from Refuse Fascism to come to DC from around the country were joined by new people from the DC area—including a number of students from George Washington University who had heard of this from the action the day before (see the November 6 entry below). Members of the Handmaid Army DC were there. A revcom.us correspondent noted, “The spirit was one of love for humanity, determination, engaging for a deeper understanding, and working on how to be the levers that bring the millions to join in here in DC.”

November 6: A Challenge to Students, "We need you here making sacrifices."
Taking off from yesterday's launch of the beginning of the Fall of the Trump fascist regime, RefuseFascism.org along with other organizers led a vibrant, spirited march of over 100 people to specifically reach out to students—challenging them to join the nonviolent determined movement to drive the fascist Trump regime from power. People gathered at George Washington University, and marched through town, singing and chanting along the way to Georgetown University. Cameron, a student from California who had answered a call to come to DC, challenged other students: “I’m calling on you, whether you’re somebody that’s been to a hundred protests or never been to a single one, we need you here. We need you here making sacrifices. And I know it’s scary, but it’s what we have to do. It’s our responsibility, as a nation, as a democracy. Every single person has to contribute."
As the march passed by a local high school, over a dozen students who had just gotten out of class, along with several from George Washington, joined in. A number of students took part in an impromptu speak-out: “I joined because I fucking hate Donald Trump!” “My best friend is an international student, and I don’t want to live in fear every day that he’ll be snatched off the streets” A George Washington student said, “I walked out of my dorm and heard singing,” and joined in. After reaching Georgetown, people turned around and marched all the way back to George Washington.
Tomorrow: protest at the fascist-dominated Supreme Court on the day they are scheduled to have a conference to decide whether to hear a case that could overturn marriage equality for LGBT people.
November 5
Determined, beautiful people from across the country came together in the nation's Capital—on the one-year anniversary of Trump’s election—to raise a call to millions: Join us! Trump Must Go! Trump Must Go Now! With energy, focus, a diversity of voices, music, and a kick-ass marching band, thousands rallied at the Washington Monument. People felt the urgent historic mission and sense of responsibility to go from local, one-day protests to creating a "political earthquake from below"—amassing in Washington, DC in a sustained defiant, nonviolent uprising to drive the Trump fascist regime from power. They marched six-lanes abreast past the Capitol and Supreme Court. Plans were announced for actions every day through the next days and this weekend, and more will be coming—go to trumpmustgo.org for schedules and other information.
As Sunsara Taylor, a leader of Refuse Fascism and co-host of The RNL—Revolution, Nothing Less!—Show, said at the rally: “Today we are gathered to launch a historic movement, a non-violent struggle that goes from thousands to millions and comes back again and again, right here in the capital, not slowing down, not relenting, until Trump is removed from power.”
Below are some of the sights and sounds from the day, including a few of the speeches from the rally. Stay tuned for more.
