In an outrageous move, ABC announced on Wednesday that it was suspending the popular late-night TV talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live! “indefinitely,” because of a remark that Kimmel made regarding the assassination of fascist agitator Charlie Kirk. According to Hollywood Reporter, the remark Kimmel made during his monologue Tuesday night was: “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.” The Hollywood Reporter noted that ABC’s action came after Brendan Carr, head of Trump’s Federal Communication Commission, threatened “to take action against ABC affiliates” after Kimmel’s remark.
As we have said, the murder of Charlie Kirk was very wrong and should not be justified in any way. At the same time, Kirk’s assassination has been seized on by fascists to call for and move on a huge leap in repression—against everyone opposed to Trump/MAGA fascism.
This reactionary ouster of yet another talk show host (after CBS’s cancellation of Stephen Colbert) who has spoken out against Trump and MAGA underscores the urgent importance of the call initiated by Refuse Fascism (and open to all): The time has come for… THE FALL of the TRUMP FASCIST REGIME. Beginning November 5, 2025. Washington DC. As the call begins:
Fascism is not a looming threat. It is upon us now.
Humanity’s only hope is for the decent people of this country to rise in our millions. We cannot wait for future and rigged elections. We must drive the Trump Fascist Regime from power.
Beginning November 5, the one-year anniversary of Trump’s election, flood DC in nonviolent protest.
