Alert: Key Democrats Capitulate to Fascist Demands to End the Shutdown

As we go to press Sunday night, a number of Democratic Party senators seem to be capitulating to the Republi-fascists' demands to fund the government and end the shutdown. This is despite not winning basic Democratic Party demands including an extension of government subsidies that enabled people to buy health insurance through Obamacare. The ending of these subsidies—which this bill will do—will force literally millions of people to give up their health insurance coverage. 

There were larger issues at stake, as many were looking to the Democrats to fight the fascists and saw the shutdown battle as part of that—even as it did not address the main fascist attacks, like immigration (which most Democrats stay away from). We will cover this later this week. In the meantime, this provides essential orientation for why "Democratic Party politicians may contribute to the crucial struggle against Trump/MAGA fascism—but the Democratic Party will not, and cannot, lead this struggle where it needs to go."

We are at a turning point in history. The capitalist-imperialist system is a horror for billions of people here and around the world and threatening the very fabric of life on earth. Revcom.us acts as a guiding and connecting hub for the revcom movement nationwide: showing what’s being done, digging into what’s right and what’s wrong, and rapidly learning—and recruiting new people into what has to be a rapidly growing force.
