Protests full of rowdy, defiant and overwhelmingly young people have started popping off in cities across the country. Thousands taking over the freeway in Los Angeles; hundreds squaring off with violent police in West Phoenix, AZ; thousands in Houston, TX; hundreds in Dallas doing an anti-ICE line dance... in some places, a few people are standing out on a corner with signs... in other places, it's been hundreds and thousands organized spontaneously through social media. The protests have predominantly, but not only, been Latino. They have come with their stories of immigrant friends and loved ones, of fear and fury. These initial protests are a very good thing!
1. So far, the protests have been mainly directed against the Trump MAGA fascist regime's deportations and extreme threats of much more—with his ugly demonization of and threats against all immigrants. This is very important and needs to be just a beginning—these protests need to grow and spread.
At the same time, we need to understand that the vicious attacks on immigrants are the leading edge of a full-on fascist assault. As the revolutionary leader Bob Avakian (BA) says in his New Year's Message:
Trump 2025 is not just another administration coming into office. This is fascism: the undisguised dictatorship of this system of capitalism-imperialism in the world’s most powerful capitalist-imperialist country—openly and aggressively oppressive and repressive—a fascism fueled by anti-scientific and Christian fundamentalist lunacy, moving to forcibly impose its racist, immigrant-persecuting, woman- and LGBT-hating MAGA madness, determined to unleash unbridled capitalist plunder and naked imperialist expansionism, prepared to violently crush any opposition or resistance.
And the fascist regime is on a determined offensive with this program and an organized and determined social base of millions. They can be backed down, but this will be a fierce struggle.
2. The fight to defend our immigrant sisters and brothers needs to be linked with all the others under attack and even more against this whole fascist program. As the call for a week of action from THE REVCOM CORPS For The Emancipation Of Humanity said:
Standing up against individual attacks—against immigrants, trans people, and others—is righteous and necessary, but on its own is NOT ENOUGH!
THE WHOLE TRUMP/MAGA FASCIST PROGRAM MUST BE DEFEATED BEFORE IT CONSOLIDATES!
How do we do this? Protests need to reach and involve people from all walks of life, and every corner of society. Not just protesting to "have our voices heard." Again, from Bob Avakian:
[Defeating this fascism] means building and mobilizing a truly broad and determined mass movement—uniting all who can be united, in rapidly and continually growing numbers, all over the country—aiming to become so massive and powerful that it creates a profound political crisis, such that Trump cannot govern the country and implement his fascist program.
3. Right now, millions need to learn about, and dig into, the revolutionary leadership being provided by Bob Avakian. His message "2025: A New Year—Profound New Challenges—And a Profoundly Positive Way Forward in the Face of Very Real Horror" and the recent Interviews with him that were just released on The RNL—Revolution, Nothing Less!—Show need to be seen very, very widely right now.
People need to be digging into and debating the leadership being provided by Bob Avakian right now. Look: If you have not listened seriously to Bob Avakian, you have no idea that there is a whole better world that's possible beyond this capitalist nightmare... you have no idea how deep the roots of this fascism are in the system of capitalism-imperialism... and you have no idea, that as difficult as it will be, there is a positive way forward, a way we can come together to fight for that better world.
This is what people need to encounter. And this means spreading, engaging people with, and raising funds for, the Campaign to Get Bob Avakian's Social Media Everywhere reaching throughout society. Millions are being jolted by this fascism, and may be inspired by those rising up against it. They need to be reached with BA's voice, a challenge to get into this and an invitation to donate for this to reach everywhere.
People who are coming to see the truth being fought for by THE REVCOM CORPS For The Emancipation Of Humanity that "This Whole System Is Rotten and Illegitimate! We Need and We Demand: A Whole New Way to Live, A Fundamentally Different System" are invited to run with the REVCOM CORPS, and be part of getting organized for the emancipating revolution we need to overthrow the whole system that's given rise to this fascism.
Around the Country

A jubilant, festive protest demanding an end to the assaults on immigrants made its way through Houston on Sunday, February 2, demanding an end to the assaults on immigrants. An estimated 22,000 people took over two bridges and portions of Richmond Ave and the Southwest Freeway. Carrying signs against Trump, ICE, and La Migra, chanting "Fuck Donald Trump" and other chants; this was truly an outpouring of defiance, joy, and righteous anger. @SoySamaraPerez
Hundreds of people turned out in downtown Chicago to oppose Trump and Trump/MAGA fascism, including some 60-70 who first attended a rally and march led by THE REVCOM CORPS for the Emancipation of Humanity. Above, Noche Diaz of THE REVCOM CORPS spoke at the rally. Below, later he led hundreds of mainly young people in a powerful call-and-response that began with the main slogan of the day: "In the name of humanity, we refuse to accept a fascist America!” Chicago police then swarmed and arrested Noche, along with Chicago revcom Leo Pargo, dragged them to jail, and charged them with "crimes" that carry sentences of a year in jail.
