One month ago Bob Avakian released a social media message, REVOLUTION #125, “Not the courts, and not the Democratic Party: Decent people, mobilizing massively and relentlessly, are the force that must be relied on to defeat Trump/MAGA fascism.” Toward the very beginning BA stated clearly:
The machinery of the Trump fascist regime must be prevented from functioning, until this regime is removed from power.

In the month since being issued, the urgency of this call has stood out ever more sharply. In just this past week, here are some of the things the regime has done to nail down this fascism:
- The Trump fascist regime has attacked and overturned well-established truths or procedures to get at the truth. Instead, “truth is what the regime says it is.” When there are no criteria of objective truth in governing society—when actual facts don’t matter, then we are well down the road to where only raw brutal power wielded by Trump will determine the future.1 Since last Monday:
Trump says NO! to limits on emission of greenhouse gases.
- The regime reversed the historic 2009 “finding” of the Environmental Protection Agency that the release of greenhouse gases into the air from burning fuels like oil, gas, coal, etc. forms a serious threat to the health and well-being of people. This finding grew out of decades of work by thousands of scientists, and its basic point has been proven in thousands of tests and studies since. It has formed the foundation for regulation and law that relates to caring for the environment. But since Trump says NO, there will be NO control on greenhouse emissions!
- Trump fired the head statistician of the Bureau of Labor Statistics for reporting unemployment figures that revealed that hiring was slowing down. He literally said by way of explanation that this made him look bad—which evidently means it must be a lie!
- The Smithsonian Museum agreed to retract any mention of Trump’s two impeachment trials in a museum exhibit supposed to be about impeachment, and instead mentioned only Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton as presidents who were impeached (but were not convicted) and Richard Nixon as one forced to resign.
- The Trump regime has gone further in asserting direct personal control of the military by Trump himself. Trump will now get to interview every candidate for four-star general before they are confirmed, something no other president has ever done. This from the president who a little over a month ago held a military parade on his birthday.
- The Trump regime both intensified its support for and its direct participation in the genocide in Gaza and has engaged in “nuclear blackmail” against another nuclear-armed power, Russia, making the world both more immediately horrific and more threatening.
- The fascist regime advanced in its campaign to break the independence of the university community. They moved to control the curriculum and faculty hiring of the most prominent universities in the country. They used a false definition of anti-Semitism, equating it with anti-Zionism. And they are literally outlawing analysis and basic indisputable facts that run counter to this bogus definition, while demanding the punishment and expulsion of those who engage in criticism or protest or mere expression of facts and other “inconvenient truths.”
- The regime moved further in asserting direct economic control by Trump. Trump intensified his global trade war. In doing so, he violated what is actually a power reserved to Congress. This same week, he attempted to bend the Federal Reserve Bank to his will.
- Trump publicly called on fascist governors to immediately “gerrymander”—that is, to rearrange their congressional districts—in such a way as to increase the Republi-fascist representation in the House of Representatives. Texas, the second largest state, immediately leapt to do his bidding, with other states soon falling in line. This move could effectively rig the election for the fascists, should the 2026 election even happen.
- The regime continued its demonization and illegal persecution of immigrants, with violent, racially targeted mass sweeps conducted by masked repressive forces and the disappearances of thousands of people for days and weeks into hellhole prison camps.
- The fascists continued their ongoing campaigns to “roll back” any reforms, even the most minor, that had been made in response to the massive struggles in recent decades against the centuries of injustice of Black people, as well as other “minority” nationalities, women, and LGBT people. The regime has waged war on any promotion of diversity in school admissions, hiring and/or advancement, on the teaching of the actual history of this country and its treatment of “minorities,” etc.

Break with Denial, Face Reality… and YOUR Responsibility to Act
Again, the above is just a partial account of one week’s “work” of these fascists. They are moving on all sides to lock down this fascist program. They are moving on perceived enemies of all kinds and moving to crush all dissent and opposition.
The politics of the possible are the politics of monstrosity! TRUMP MUST GO NOW!
But some people are still in denial and not wanting to face it. Others still put their hope in the Democratic Party. But where was the Democratic Party this past week and all the weeks before? Nowhere. Those who put their hopes in the Democrats don’t see, or won’t see, what Bob Avakian says later in the social media message we quoted earlier: that the Democrats as an institution want above all to
maintain the “orderly functioning” and “traditional norms” of this system…[and have] repeatedly aided and facilitated the fascists—who are trampling on those “traditional norms” in order to rule through an open dictatorship of lawless tyranny and terror.
As I emphasized in my message number 119: some Democratic Party politicians may contribute to the struggle against Trump/MAGA fascism—but the Democratic Party will not, and cannot, lead this struggle where it needs to go.
The Need for “A Massive Popular Uprising”... Determined to Actually Win
Bob Avakian concludes his critical message, REVOLUTION #125, with this final and crucial dimension:
It is up to the decent people, in the millions and millions, to stop this Trump fascist juggernaut and the horrors it is moving to impose on people in this country and in the world as a whole.
Ongoing protests, and powerful mobilizations all over the country, have been very important, and they show the potential for what must be done. But all this must make a leap, soon, to become a massive popular uprising, determined to actually defeat this fascist regime, uniting around the urgent demand: The Trump Fascist Regime Must Go—NOW!
This means “no business as usual.” It means protest and resistance building day after day: non-violent but sustained and relentless—responding to repression by the fascist regime with even greater outpourings of resistance—uniting all who can be united, in continually growing numbers, motivated by the necessary sense of urgency, aiming to create a profound political crisis and major shifts and “realignments” throughout society, including in the dominant institutions of power, so that this illegitimate fascist regime cannot function, and is actually removed.
What Bob Avakian calls for is not easy, but it IS necessary… and it could be possible. But that will require you—to face the real facts, to step forward and join with RefuseFascism.org, an organization made up of people from different perspectives, aiming to unite all who can be united, in mass sustained protest behind the single demand: The Trump Fascist Regime Must Go Now!
It requires you—and all decent people—to make this urgent and historic fight, which bears so heavily on the destiny of humanity, your number one priority until we have won.
This needs to involve mass sustained protest and resistance in the streets and campuses and workplaces… and it needs to involve mass non-compliance within the dominant institutions of society.
People and Institutions
Stopping this requires radical, mass, non-violent action. Every single one of the fascist changes outlined above is immoral and illegitimate and, in their own perverse way, are “radical”—radically reactionary, in that they uproot previous ways of doing things but in an ugly way. Almost every one of the changes above also involves people in key institutions of society. People who are being relied upon to agree with or go along those changes, to enforce them, or—if they don’t like it—to shut up and quit. People who feel that they are being put in an impossible moral position but at the same time feel isolated. People who would stand up—if they found the courage and had an example or a way to do it.
Well, what if some of those people begin to be influenced by a very broad movement in society that is constantly exposing the true character of the regime’s actions and constantly mobilizing people in ways both big and small? What if they see symbols of resistance up all over? What if people in those institutions become emboldened to speak out on or to “leak” different ways in which this fascism is being jammed down—or to lend a hand to those who are protesting? You can see the glimmer of all these things in the last few months. But now is the time for these to go a much higher level and to be linked to and directed at a single goal—the removal of this fascist regime.
Recall here what we quoted above from Bob Avakian on the need for “profound political crisis and major shifts and 'realignments' throughout society, including in the dominant institutions of power, so that this illegitimate fascist regime cannot function, and is actually removed.”
The Need for Organization
None of this happens without organization—broad organization that can encompass all kinds of views… principled organization in which differences are discussed and thrashed out in ways that recognize and learn from differences in the course of seeking the best way to a common goal… determined organization that will not stop until the goal is met. That organization exists in RefuseFascism.org, and strengthening this necessary, precious and proven instrument is a real task in its own right.
Think about where this article began—with the fascist assaults of just the past week. The time really is very late.
But nobody can say it is too late.
In that light, we end with the conclusion of Refuse Fascism’s “A Call To Conscience… A Call To Act”:
Waiting for the next elections will be too late. We cannot rely on the Democratic Party’s leadership who complacently rely on the very norms and processes that the Trump regime shreds by the hour.
NO! We must organize and struggle as we never have before. We must not allow ourselves to be divided and conquered. We must unite all who can be united from many different viewpoints and perspectives, to foster and draw on a collective spirit of courage and righteous fury and willingness to make the necessary sacrifices, for the greater good of defeating this fascism. We in our millions are a force powerful enough to defeat Trump/MAGA fascism.
Let it not be said that when there was still a chance to stop an unprecedented threat to the future of humanity, we did not rise to meet the challenge of our time. Let us not allow the watching world today to despair of our silence and our failure to act. Instead, let the world see our determination and courage and hear our righteous demand:
In The Name of Humanity, We Refuse to Accept a Fascist America.
The Fascist Trump Regime Must Go!
