We are the Revcoms—the revolutionary communists—and we are here today to unite with people to defend the rights of Black and other “minority” people, including the right to vote… and to speak some hard truths.
Hard truths about the fascists and what they have in store. Hard truths about the system that gave rise to them. And hard—but liberating—truths about what needs to be done and your role in it.
We are now being ruled by fascists. The revolutionary leader Bob Avakian has made the point that there is a direct line from the Confederacy to these fascists today. These fascists do not intend to let anything get in their way of restoring an openly white supremacist, male-supremacist, immigrant-hating regime. Fact: just a year ago Trump and Hegseth gathered 800 generals here in Washington and publicly told them their biggest fight would be with “the enemy within.” Well, who—and what—do you think they were talking about?!?
These fascists come out of the soil of this capitalist-imperialist system. They are hell-bent on preserving that system “by any means necessary”—at a time when that system faces its biggest crisis ever. So, yes, it is righteous and necessary to defend the right to vote: Black people and others shed blood for that right, as part of standing up to the whole racist system.
But we must also confront the reality that we are not going to vote our way out of fascism or out of all the horrors that this system brings down not just on Black people and other oppressed people in this country, but in Gaza, Iran, and on the very climate that humanity needs to survive—all while increasing the danger of wider, even nuclear war.
The Democratic Party comes out of that same system of capitalism-imperialism. That is why, despite their real differences with the fascists over how to rule the system, the Democratic Party constantly puts the stability and defense of that system above even the most basic rights of the masses of people. How much longer do we confine our sights to the game they have us play? How much longer do we let them keep us running on the treadmill of a system rapidly heading us toward the destruction of humanity?
The truth is, we can’t afford to… and we don’t have to. As we Revcoms have said:
A whole different way of living is possible: a whole different way to organize society, with a radically different economic foundation and political system, emancipating relations among people and an uplifting culture—all of this oriented to meeting the basic needs and fulfilling the highest interests of the masses of people.
To make that “whole different way” real requires a revolution—nothing less. And here’s an important fact: the extreme crisis of the system that has produced the fascist Trump can also create openings for far better radical change—a real revolution, aimed at emancipating all of humanity.
We have the scientific analysis and the strategy to make that revolution, rooted in the new communism of Bob Avakian. This Constitution contains the sweeping vision, firm foundation and concrete blueprint for the emancipating society humanity so urgently needs. We have the strategy to bring forward and lead those millions. And we have the leadership for that revolution in Bob Avakian, the most important political thinker and leader in the world today.
