Why I am attending the Conference on “Getting Beyond Capitalism…"
I love being challenged intellectually. Attending a mini-course on Bob Avakian’s “Humanity on the Brink” was exciting, but also shook me to my core.
I came to the course as the son of a marine, a fan of Bernie Sanders. The content on Democracy as a Dictatorship and the DSA (Democratic Socialists of America) was particularly challenging for me. I was growing very resistant, defensive. At least once, I thought seriously about dropping out of the course. The stigma and anti-communist propaganda is a powerful thing. And to be honest, even after the course, there is still more work for me to do on this front. I’m heading to the conference, in part, to continue that much needed growth, as it’s a small part of a process to create a healthier planet.
Indeed, the major reason I’m going to the conference is to learn more about how to create a better world. Since Trump’s victory in 2016 (and 2024), I’ve had this sense that America was broken. Israel’s recent and ongoing genocide of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank led me to believe that the broader global system might also be broken. Yet, after completing that eight week course, I’ve learned that the system of capitalism-imperialism is the driving force behind fascism, rising oceans, and possible nuclear armageddon. In short, many people across the globe are suffering under the yoke of capitalism-imperialism, and if we stay on this path, humanity itself is at stake!
Yet, we don’t have to stay on this path. Through true revolution, establishing a communist state that maximizes the strengths and addresses the mistakes of Soviet Russia and Communist China is possible. Indeed, it is the only path to establishing a world without White Supremacy, misogyny, fascism, or exploitation. The conference will help learn more about what is needed to make this revolution a reality.

If you really care about ending White Supremacy, ending misogyny, ending discrimination against LGTBQ and other marginalized groups, in short, if you’re hungry for a more fair, just, and equitable world, then you NEED to register today! If you recognize and fear the threat that ongoing climate change and the threat of a major nuclear war pose to humanity, then it’s time to reserve your seat at this conference immediately! Although these threats are real, and urgent, the fate of humanity has not yet been locked into place. This system of capitalism-imperialism is the ultimate source of both of these urgent threats, and only by overthrowing this system through revolution, and replacing it with a socialist state can we finally begin to address each of these threats to the planet. If you recognize that this Trump Regime is fascist, if you’re disgusted watching yet another video of ICE agents murdering immigrants in the streets with impunity, if you want to close these inhumane detention camps once and for all, then lock in your seat for the conference as soon as possible. "I want a better world for my kids and for children everywhere."
I’m going to this day of revcom talks and workshops because I believe we already know there is another way to live on this planet. We are going full speed ahead toward the demise of humanity and the destruction of the planet, and I’m tired of pretending this system is the only option. The destruction, oppression, exploitation, and suffering are not inevitable. We know the way out of this nightmare, and Revolutionary Communism is that way out.
I’ve read some of BA’s work, but Humanity on the Brink helped me understand the why, who, how, and what could be. This conference is a chance to hear a concrete solution to these problems, ask questions, learn more, and really dig into what it means to build something different.
I want a better world for my kids and for children everywhere. I don’t believe being born or living in this country makes us better or more deserving than anyone else on this earth. I’m tired of the horrors this country brings to people around the world and I’m tired of those things being done in my name.
I’m glad to have the chance to be around people who feel the same way I do and who are willing to learn, question, and fight for something different.
If you’re tired of the destruction, hate, suffering, and endless bullshit with no real solutions, come. Unfuck your brain from the nationalism we’ve been taught since birth. We deserve better. Our kids deserve better. Humanity deserves better. And this planet deserves better.
The root of what we’re experiencing goes way deeper than greedy billionaires. They’re just part of the endgame. The system itself is the problem. It was built on white supremacy, exploitation, and oppression, and it knows no other way to operate. Capitalism is like a steam engine going full speed ahead, even when we’re headed toward a cliff.
This is why science matters. We have to look at the root causes instead of just reacting to the symptoms. BA is controversial because he’s asking people to think outside the system we’ve been taught is the only option.
A real revolution is about putting people in power and fundamentally changing how we are governed. And it has to be for everyone, not just people in the United States. We have one planet, and we are all human.
Maybe that sounds scary. But real change is scary. And I think the cracks we’re seeing give us an opportunity to build something different… something that puts people and the planet before profit.
The difference I can make is simple. I will keep learning, keep speaking, and keep spreading the truth about what could actually save us
"I totally want to see the end of this capitalist system in this country."
I am attending the day of talks and workshops to further my involvement with revcom. I've learned a lot and feel like I want to learn more. I totally want to see the end of this capitalist system in this country. I've lived through different parts of its history. Enough is enough. When you realize the harm, the damage to the people and the planet because of capitalism-imperialism, then you just can't shut your eyes anymore. You can't live with it without taking some course of action. It drives you to the point where you know enough is enough and it's just not acceptable.
If you care about humanity, if you care about the planet, if you care about the future, you know something has to be done. Fascism is not turning back, there's no way to escape it. You're either going to resist it or regret not becoming involved, because sooner or later you will have to.
Going to the conference will help me communicate better, organize my thoughts better, meeting people who feel the same way and want the same changes. The goal is the end of oppression and exploitation everywhere. These are the people I want to spend time with.
For people coming for the first time, this gives them the opportunity to really understand what the organization is about, it will help them make a decision about where they want to stand. People will enjoy finding a place where people feel the same as they do. To learn and seek company of like-minded people.
