Organizing for an Actual Revolution: 7 Key Points

This week we publish “Organizing for an Actual Revolution: 7 Key Points.” These 7 Key Points sum up in basic principles the foundation and road map to make revolution in this period. They concentrate some of the key points that are found in the extremely important talk by Bob Avakian, “SOMETHING TERRIBLE, OR SOMETHING TRULY EMANCIPATING: Profound Crisis, Deepening Divisions, The Looming Possibility Of Civil War—And The Revolution That Is Urgently Needed. A Necessary Foundation, A Basic Roadmap For This Revolution.” That includes critical analysis of the situation we face, as well as key principles in carrying forward a strategic process that can, and must, be taken up by many, many people. This piece can guide those who want to make revolution and it can inspire and draw in those who ache for fundamental, top-to-bottom change, but wonder if it can actually happen.

Here, in these concentrated points, is how we go from the relative handful who are with this today to what “Something Terrible, Or Something Truly Emancipating” sets forth as our necessary objective over the next few years:

Everything depends on bringing forward a revolutionary people, from among the most bitterly oppressed, and all parts of society, first in the thousands and then in the millions, as a powerful revolutionary force, organized from the start and consistently with a country-wide perspective, impacting all of society and changing the terms of how masses of people see things and how every institution has to respond. Everything must be focused now on actually bringing forward and organizing this revolutionary force.

So we urge you not just to read the “7 Key Points,” but to get this out, discuss this with others, and internalize it. We are also running this week, both in video and in text, Andy Zee’s commentary on these 7 Key Points in the last RNL—Revolution, Nothing Less!—Show on YouTube. Zee emphasizes how this revolutionary people can only be brought forward through “ferocious struggle against ways of thinking that keep people chained to this system, winning growing numbers to break with all that, while also mobilizing masses of people to fight against injustices and outrages that are continually committed under this system and to stand up against the forces that perpetrate and enforce these injustices and outrages.” (“Organizing for an Actual Revolution: 7 Key Points”)

The Leadership We Have for This Revolution

Of critical importance in carrying forward all of this is the leadership we have in Bob Avakian, or BA. Every week we run the important article “Bob Avakian: A Radically Different Leader, A Whole New Framework For Human Emancipation.” That’s an important article to keep returning to and certainly to read for the first time if you’re just now encountering BA. This week we are publishing a letter from a reader that goes into another angle of this leadership: “To Those In and Around the Revolution Clubs and the Movement for Revolution, and All Who Hunger for Fundamental Change.”

This letter from a reader makes the point that BA has published over 100 articles since 2020 alone. Crossroads at the Court: The Fight for Abortion Rights

We are, again, extensively covering the struggle against the ripping away of the right to abortion, now reaching an extremely important crossroads as the Supreme Court prepares to rule on whether Roe v. Wade (the constitutional guarantee of the right to abortion) will stand. It is imperative that people disrupt things in creative and attention-getting ways, raise all kinds of righteous hell, put on the green bandana and wear it everywhere, and live and breathe this battle day in and day out. We cover what is going on there, as well as other developments—but don’t just read about it, go there if you possibly can.

Sharp Divisions Find Expression in the High-Stakes January 6 Hearings

For two weeks now, Congressional hearings on Donald Trump’s attempted coup on January 6, 2021, have been going on. These hearings are an expression of what is said in “Organizing for an Actual Revolution: 7 Key Points”:

The crisis and deep divisions in society can only be resolved through radical means, of one kind or another—either radically reactionary, murderously oppressive and destructive means, or radically emancipating revolutionary means. And this resolution could quite possibly happen, one way or the other, within the next few years. This rare situation, with the deepening and sharpening conflicts among the ruling powers, and in the society overall, provides a stronger basis and greater openings to break the hold of this system over masses of people.

Some of these conflicts are playing out in these hearings, and we will be covering these, bringing out what is happening, why is it happening and what it means for humanity and the revolution it so urgently needs. As “7 Key Points” immediately goes on to say:

In a situation like this, things that have basically remained the same, for decades, can radically change in a very short period of time. This rare time must not be wasted—it must be seized on to have a real fighting chance to bring about a truly emancipating revolutionary resolution, and not be subjected to a terrible, reactionary, murderously oppressive and destructive resolution.
