In a dramatic action, in front of Independence Hall, Philadelphia on July 4 – and in cities across the country – the revcoms released a major new Declaration:

“WE NEED AND WE DEMAND: A WHOLE NEW WAY TO LIVE, A FUNDAMENTALLY DIFFERENT SYSTEM”

Speaking on July 4, Michelle Xai, a leader of the Revolution Club said “The revcoms – revolutionary communists – are aiming to lead millions to defeat the violent enforcers of this monstrous system.... to abolish this system, with all its oppressive institutions, and its governing U.S. Constitution and to establish a far better system, based on the Constitution for the New Socialist Republic in North America, written by the revolutionary leader Bob Avakian.”  (The strategy for this is spelled out in this proclamation released in May, “WE ARE THE REVCOMS.”)

Xai indicted the US Constitution for the ways it justifies the system of capitalism-imperialism – while it was defaced, symbolically dripping in the blood of the people of the world.   In contrast, she and other revcoms spoke to the ways society would be run on a whole different foundation with the Constitution for the New Socialist Republic.

Annie Day, part of the National Tour for Revolution, asked “what becomes possible with a real revolution?”  She answered, “This new Declaration spells this out, 'a whole new dimension of freedom and rights of the people, a whole different economy—to meet fundamental needs and serve highest interests, eliminating discrimination, inequality, and oppression in every form, education to actually educate and empower the masses of people, health care to serve the people, abolishing nuclear weapons, finally abolishing war, and systematically addressing the environmental crisis.'"

Day continued, “We are small here today, but we recognize that we're acting in a society where the entire fabric is being ripped apart, where this system is coming apart at the seams – with vicious fascists on the one side who've said they won't respect elections they lose, and war criminal Democrats who are right now aggressively facing off with Russia and China in a way that could lead to nuclear annihilation.”

She and others declared their intention to make this a mass demand of millions:

WE DECLARE AND WE DEMAND:

The Existing Capitalist-Imperialist System and Institutions of Government In This Country Must Be Abolished and Dismantled—And Replaced By a New, Socialist System Based on the Constitution for the New Socialist Republic in North America

After a short march, Xai led a group of RevComs—revolutionary communists—in shredding the American flag in front of Independence Hall.  “We are the revcoms,” she said, “we are fighting for a real revolution and a whole new emancipating way to live.”
