There’s a lot of hype around the Obama Center. The center has this Obama quote prominently displayed: “You are America... The single most powerful word in our democracy is the word 'We'... It belongs to everyone. Oh, what a glorious task we are given to continually try to improve this great nation of ours.”
Bullshit. America was never great, and the myth of an ever-improving democracy has served slavery, genocide, exploitation, and worldwide plunder. A capitalist-imperialist system, along with parasitic culture of “me, me, me” that is now force-marching humanity into the abyss.
Obama himself has made clear he aims to use this center to train thousands of youth to take up his path. But that path is one of horror for humanity. This poison goes down easier when packaged by a Black leader (of this oppressive system), especially when we are ruled by an open genocidal racist Trump who blatantly pumps out white supremacist garbage, including disgusting racist and anti-gay memes and tweets against Barack and Michele Obama. But the Obama path is one of trying to save this rotten and illegitimate system, getting in on the oppression and madness while at best condemning future generations to the “normal” suffering caused by this system, if there is a future at all.
The way forward for humanity is not “improving” this monstrous system, but getting free, making revolution to overthrow it and bring forward an entirely new system dedicated to mobilizing the people to overcome all forms of exploitation and oppression, here and all over the world. Forging that path forward means getting with the Revcom Corps and the revolutionary leader Bob Avakian.
Here’s the truth: Every president from the “liberal” Obama to the fascist Trump (who blatantly pumps out racism, patriarchy and “America First” global domination)– has one main purpose: To serve this exploitative, oppressive, planet-destroying system of capitalism-imperialism.
Look at the evidence.
- Obama promised to stop the wars. Instead, he checked off a “kill list” every Tuesday morning to decide who America would assassinate that week. He carried forward a blood-soaked war in Afghanistan, and he supported Israel’s wars on Gaza during his term… all to defend the American empire.
- Obama promised “pathways to citizenship” for immigrants. Meanwhile he deported more people than any other president before or since (including Trump!)
- Obama promised to lift up Black youth… but when the police in Baltimore wantonly murdered the Black young man Freddie Gray in 2015, Obama called the Black youth who rose up in protest “thugs”… but he never called the police who murdered Freddie Gray “THUGS”!! And when Obama had a chance to speak at the Morehouse graduation, his message was “pull your pants up” – as if discrimination and racial oppression was the result of Black youth’s style, not something woven into every fiber of a system that has no real future for the masses of Black and other oppressed peoples other than a boot in the ass and a bullet in the brain.
- Obama promised to start healing the environment and said that in his administration “the oceans will begin to recede.” Instead, the U.S. under Obama broke its all-time records in producing oil and now children in Chicago and all around the world spend their summers under heat domes and choking on smoke.
Face it. Obama represents the U.S. capitalist-imperialist system—and he served as a front man who knowingly aimed to put a Black face on the ugliest empire in history to confuse people and cover up the truth.
REVOLUTION IS A DIFFICULT ROAD. BUT IT IS THE ONLY REAL SOLUTION. AND IT IS ACTUALLY MORE POSSIBLE IN THE TIME WE LIVE IN NOW!
Revolution is not only possible, it is humanity’s only hope. The revolutionary leader Bob Avakian has pointed out:
[T]he means—the technology and knowledge—exist that could make it possible for everyone on the earth to have their basic material needs met, free from want (and the fear of privation). The only reason this has not been brought about is…because of the domination in the world by the system of capitalism-imperialism and the consequences of this for the masses of people in the world. Only through a profound revolution—sweeping away this system and converting the means of production (including technology) into the common property of society, administered for the common good, and utilizing this, together with the growing store of human knowledge, to meet people’s basic needs (materially, and culturally and intellectually as well)—only in this way can the basis be achieved for doing away with poverty and needless suffering, along with ending the brutally oppressive relations to which the masses of humanity are continually subjected.
Yes, conditions today are extreme—and looking at the surface, revolution can seem more impossible than ever. But these extreme conditions are the result of an extreme crisis of this system, where the rulers are divided in a way that they have not been since the Civil War. In speaking on WHY BLACK PEOPLE FLOODED INTO THE UNION ARMY IN THE CIVIL WAR... AND WHAT THAT HAS TO DO WITH NOW (revcom.us), Bob Avakian said:
Among people who are exploited and oppressed, there will always be resistance and rebellion—but, when a profound crisis grips the system as a whole which exploits and oppresses them, the objective possibility is greatly heightened for actually putting an end to that system.
We are the revcoms and we are down to do what is needed to prepare the ground, prepare the people and prepare the forces needed to make this revolution. We challenge you to find out more about this revolution and to get involved.
