From a prisoner in Virginia:

I just finished reading Away With All Gods! today.¹ It is enlightening and also hilarious. I’m going to read it again someday, but first I’m going to pass it around to a few people, and let others read it and engage with it. A lot of people, even in here, are like, “eww, communism”, when I bring it up, and I was too, at first.

But I’m beginning to deeply believe that it is the next forward step in the evolution of humanity, and once everybody is united under it, we can move forward in a beautiful direction.

In fact, humanity can become its own god, instead of praying to, and relying upon, thin air. Just think of what we can do... this can be bigger than us, bigger than earth. The possibilities are vast...

I truly believe that communism is worth fighting for. Under this system, I cannot do big things, cannot be somebody... I can’t even fucking vote… But I can help to bring about revolution, that is something that these blockheads have no say over. And everybody else who has been disenfranchised from/by this system, they too can take that power back! And the ones who were never given power to begin with. I’m done being treated as a second-class citizen, and I’m sick of seeing other people treated that way. Who the fuck are they to tell us we don’t matter, that we are less than? Are we going to let them?, that is the real question.

I’m going to challenge people to read the material that PRLF [Prisoners Revolutionary Literature Fund] is sending to me. And I’m going to challenge myself to read it and comprehend it on the deepest of levels. I’m not the sharpest tool, and I have ADHD, but I’ll manage.

So that’s my mission right now, to spread the word, and to get people engaging with this. The furthest intellectual regions of BA’s writing is a bit beyond my grasp, but I have heart, and I want to be part of something better.
