After the first 100 days of Trump's presidency, the fascist ideologue Steve Bannon threatened that the regime needed to “double, double down” with their fascist assault. And this is what they’ve done—moving relentlessly on every front to consolidate a fascist America.
This is just some of what’s taken place in the last week:
Stripping Away American Citizenship
On June 11, Trump’s Department of “Justice” (DOJ) issued a memo declaring that pursuing “denaturalization”—taking away citizenship from naturalized citizens (i.e., people born outside this country who later obtained U.S. citizenship)—was one of their top priorities. This is not just planned for people found guilty of crimes like torture or war crimes, this could be used for anyone the regime deems to be “enemies” or “undesirables.”
This could be done to protesters, political dissidents1 or even someone like New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani. There is even a “catch-all” item in the memo that the DOJ can go after “Any other cases referred to the Civil Division that the Division determines to be sufficiently important to pursue.” This is a green light for going after any Trump opponents who are naturalized citizens for any reason that the regime thinks is “sufficiently important” to their fascist goals.
Another thing to note is that these denaturalization cases would take place in civil—not criminal—court, which means that the standards for evidence are much lower and that defendants are not guaranteed an attorney if they can't afford one.
Threats Against Democratic Candidate for New York City Mayor
Since Zohran Mamdani won the Democratic mayoral primary election in late June, he has come under vicious fascist attack from Trump and others in the regime. Andy Ogles, a MAGA fascist congressman from Tennessee, wrote a letter to Trump’s attorney general Pam Bondi calling for a federal investigation into Mamdani and raising the possibility of revoking his citizenship. Ogles accused Mamdani—without any evidence—of “willful misrepresentation or concealment of material support for terrorism.” Mamdani was born in Uganda of Indian parents and became a U.S. citizen in 2018.
Mamdani has said that if elected mayor (in November), one of the things he would do is to stop masked ICE agents from “deporting our neighbors.” Asked about this, Trump said, “Well then, we’ll have to arrest him” and threatened to cut off federal funds to New York City if Mamdani, as mayor, “doesn’t behave himself.” Trump also threatened to take away Mamdani's citizenship: “A lot of people are saying, he’s here illegally. We’re going to look at everything.”

One of the fascist stormtroopers who attempted a coup to overturn the 2020 election on January 6, 2021 has been appointed to a position in Trump’s DOJ. Jared Wise, a former FBI agent, was named as a counselor to Ed Martin, the director of a unit within the department called the “Weaponization Working Group.” As a writer for the New Republic noted, this is “a committee tasked with enacting revenge on the president’s political enemies, particularly those involved in investigating January 6. This means that a man who broke into the Capitol in a face mask and called for the deaths of police officers is now playing a key role in an agency that is attacking those who criticize and question the events of that infamous day.”
This is another step in Trump’s moves—already very far along—to turn the whole “Justice” Department (which includes the FBI) into a powerful fascist weapon against anyone and any force that stands in the way of him and his regime.
Supreme Court Approves Trump Deportations to Torture Prisons in “Third Countries”
On July 3, the fascist majority in the Supreme Court declared that the Trump regime could go ahead and send eight immigrants, who had been deported from the U.S., to the east African country of South Sudan—which is not the country of origin for seven out of those eight deportees. South Sudan is in the middle of a civil war, and it is likely that these immigrants will be imprisoned and tortured.
With this ruling, the Supreme Court overturned a lower court that had ordered the Trump regime to stop to such “third country” deportations unless the immigrants were given their due process rights to contest such deportation.
The Supreme Court ruling is not just a stamp of approval for the Trump regime to carry out other such third-country deportations, but it also further guts the right of immigrants to any kind of due process.
Making America White Again
In a major article in the New York Times Magazine, “How Trump Upended 60 Years of Civil Rights in Two Months,” writer Nikole Hannah-Jones spelled out an assault on federal civil rights protections that “may bring about a new era of unchecked discrimination.”
Hannah-Jones paints a comprehensive picture of how discrimination against Black people, Latinos, women, and LGBT people will go completely unpunished. She writes: "No corner of the massive federal bureaucracy is being left untouched by Trump’s dismantling of civil rights." This includes housing, health care, employment, education, discrimination by law enforcement and on and on. This is being done at the same time as any attempt to include the history of Black people, or other oppressed groupings, is being erased—from the curriculum, textbooks, libraries and even facts about national monuments.
CBS/Paramount Caves in to Trump
As part of a wave of institutional capitulations, the TV network CBS and its owner, Paramount, settled an outrageous and illegitimate lawsuit that Trump brought against them. Trump’s lawsuit claimed that CBS’ 60 Minutes program had edited their interview with Kamala Harris during the presidential campaign in a way that amounted to “election interference.”
This is ridiculous and would very likely have been thrown out of court if it made it in front of a judge. But instead of fighting it out, Paramount gave in and gave Trump a $16 million settlement.
There seem to be multiple reasons for this, including that Paramount needed federal approval for a sale of CBS to another company.
This is part of a larger multi-faceted fascist assault attempting to silence and suppress media that exposes the truth about this regime.

What is covered here shows only some of what the Trump/MAGA fascists are doing—but it gives a picture of how they are moving ahead to consolidate their power, with increasing momentum and speed.
As the revolutionary leader Bob Avakian said in his social media message Revolution #125: “It is up to the decent people, in the millions and millions, to stop this Trump fascist juggernaut and the horrors it is moving to impose on people in this country and in the world as a whole.”
REVOLUTION #125
Not the courts, and not the Democratic Party: Decent people, mobilizing massively and relentlessly, are the force that must be relied on to defeat Trump/MAGA fascism.
