The Trump fascist regime has federalized the DC police, deployed the National Guard and the FBI to patrol DC streets, and threatened more military force to control and intimidate DC—while ICE continues to carry out Gestapo terror on immigrants. They have been harassing Black youth and bulldozing homeless encampments. The brave people of DC have stood up all week in the face of this.
Then, on Saturday, August 16, an estimated 2000 protesters marked the end of the first week of Trump’s fascist takeover of DC with a defiant march from Dupont Circle to and around the White House, blowing whistles and chanting “Trump Must Go Now;” “Que Te Vaya Trump;” “Free DC;” “Troops on the corner, Feds on the Block, The Fascist Takeover Must Be Stopped; and “Troops Go Home.”
Featured Speakers included Reverend Graylan Scott Hagler, senior advisor for Fellowship for Reconciliation; Sam Goldman, National Leadership Board of Refuse Fascism; Ralph, a military veteran of 20 years; Jolly Good Ginger, social media influencer with 944k followers; Tony G, local organizer and immigrant rights activist; Carl Dix, longtime revolutionary from the REVCOM CORPS For The Emancipation Of Humanity, and Corey Teague of the National Action Center. The DC rock band Waking Stones played music along the march.
The thousands who took to the streets of Washington DC today opposing the fascist occupation of the Capital must be the vanguard of a movement that refuses to collaborate with the Trump Fascist Regime – growing in strength so that November 5th, 2025 begins The FALL OF THE TRUMP REGIME with tens of thousands flooding DC growing to millions – in continuing nonviolent protest – not stopping until Trump and his illegitimate fascist regime are removed from power.
