“Instead of snarking and sniping at each other, and being divided by ‘identities,’ people should be working to unite everyone, from every part of society, who can be united in the fight against oppression and injustice, with the goal of putting an end to this system that is the source of this oppression and injustice.”
—Bob Avakian, revolutionary leader
In response to the city of Chicago announcing the empty high school in South Shore would be used to house refugees, people packed a community meeting in reactionary protest. These refugees have been forced to flee their countries by repression and hunger caused by those who rule the U.S.
To speak the truth, some of the Black people at the community meeting sounded like the worst of how some racist white people act. Like in Marquette Park back in the day where white people threw bricks at Black people including Martin Luther King. Some sounded like MAGA America First fascists TODAY when the fascists talk their slander about BOTH immigrants and Black people. “Not in my neighborhood ... they bring crime and disease ... my property values will go down ... this is ‘our’ school.” Stop thinking like Americans and start thinking about humanity!
As the “We Are the Revcoms” proclamation makes clear, the people running this system have no answer for any of this. Certainly not for the oppression of Black people—just look at the police murder of Lil Red—Reginald Clay—a couple weeks ago, yet another young Black man shot down for nothing by the police. And certainly not for the oppression of immigrants, who have been forced to leave home because the U.S. had f*ed up their countries worse than they have this one. Now is the time to get ready for revolution and to get rid of this system once and for all—not let ourselves be played into siding with the oppressors AGAINST other oppressed. Especially NOW when these oppressors are fighting among themselves and the whole society is split down the middle—we need to fight to get rid of this mess, not get in on it! Fighting side by side with other oppressed, not against each other!
Get with the Revolution Club. We will stand up against the demonization and any attacks on the immigrants, including those coming to South Shore, and welcome them as OUR people as part of preparing for this revolution. Come to our organizing center to learn about and become part of this revolution and how under the Constitution for the New Socialist Republic in North America, immigrants who want to build the new better world would be welcome.
