Turning Heads in an Arts District on a Saturday Afternoon

Members of the National Tour to Get Organized for an ACTUAL Revolution went out to stir the air on a sunny weekend in an arts district. A few of us wore bloody pants to symbolize what happens when abortion is illegal. We got people’s attention and spoke to people briefly with the sharp challenge: As the Supreme Court moves to rip up away abortion rights… if you will NOT fight against forced motherhood, then you ARE choosing the enslavement of women.

Stickers got up everywhere... hangers were hung all through downtown.

Some were stubbornly refusing to engage, and even defending their inactivity with the delusion and immorality that “it won’t affect us in California.” Others appreciated the challenge that “it’s not enough to be pro-choice, if you don’t get in the streets now, you are complicit” and glad to be given a vehicle to act. Some applauded, gave donations and got materials to spread. A group of skater kids loved the stickers and were part of getting them up everywhere. There was good debate among them about why women needed the right to abortion on demand, and without apology.

Revcom.us acts as a guiding and connecting hub for the revcom movement nationwide: showing what’s being done, digging into what’s right and what’s wrong, and rapidly learning—and recruiting new people into what has to be a rapidly growing force. Put it this way: there will be no revolution unless this website not only “keeps going” but rises to a whole different level!
