With the world’s attention turned to Israel’s massive and continuing attacks on Iran, last week the Netanyahu (aka Netan-Nazi) regime continued its relentless U.S.-backed genocide against the 2 million Palestinian people of Gaza. Just on a single day, Saturday, Israeli forces killed 79 people through air strikes, gunfire, and drone attacks. Many of those killed were trying to get any kind of food at all from the so-called “aid stations” run by the U.S.-run, Israel-supported “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation” (GHF). The stations were actually closed for the day, but with the whole of Gaza facing starvation from Israel’s cutoff of all aid for more than two months, people are desperate for any food, especially for their children. But these people on the edge of starvation are instead being met with gunfire from Israeli forces.
An Al Jazeera reporter, at the scene of an earlier massacre on Wednesday at a GHF “aid station,” said that in the two weeks since GHF began its operations, “more than 200 Palestinian people have been killed near the centers. Over 1,800 have been wounded.” One man who was at the GHF attack on Wednesday said, “We went to get some aid. We thought it was safe and a lot of people were there in order to get some humanitarian aid, and we were shocked to be targeted. The victims were all over the place. We don’t have any food at home. We don’t know how to feed our children.”

Israel is using GHF as part of its systematic genocide in Gaza and to force people into smaller and smaller areas of the territory, or even to expel them altogether. (See our article last week for more on this.) Palestinian writer Mosab Abu Toha posted on June 14, “Israel has just published a new map which shows that they have expanded what they call ‘combat zone,’ which means the ‘non-combat zone’ is diminished further. They will continue to expand their death sites until people in Gaza find themselves living on the seashore in tents before being slaughtered by fire from tanks and gunboats.” As Mosab Abu Toha pointed out in an earlier post on this, “These monsters are concentrating about 2 million people in about 20% of the Gaza.”
In the midst of this, there was an added horror as Internet service was cut off to the whole of Gaza for three days last week—cutting off communications in a situation where Israel has already systematically murdered Gaza journalists trying to get the word out to the world about what is going on. One Palestinian journalist, Al Hassan Selmi, reported June 12 in an Instagram post, “Here the situation is going from bad to worse because of the ongoing bombardment. More than 100 people have been killed from the morning until now, and more than 500 people get injured from the heavy bombardment. And the Israeli army cut the connection, Internet connection, in all Gaza Strip, just to cut the Gazans’ voice. We’re trying our best to catch the Internet from outside Gaza. I know that this is very hard and dangerous—we have to come close to the border to catch the Internet… We will try to do our best.”
Israel has murdered over 55,000 people in Gaza since it launched the all-out assault on the whole Palestinian population after the Hamas attack in Israel in October 2023. More than 50,000 children have been killed or injured. Even as the deaths and devastating injuries mount, NBC News reported on June 14 that “Israeli military assaults on the Gaza Strip’s hospitals have ramped up in recent weeks to the highest level so far this year, bringing a health system already weakened by 19 months of war to a breaking point.” Among the examples of Israeli attacks on hospitals cited in the report: “In footage from a surveillance camera, men, women and children could be seen crossing the entrance to Khan Younis’ European Hospital moments before a missile hit, blasting people into the air as others scattered in panic.”
This is a horror. A genocide rapidly escalating before the eyes of the whole world. And it must be urgently opposed!
