On the evening of June 22, Donald Trump—the fascist President of the United States—announced that U.S. bunker-buster aircraft had bombed Iran’s nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. This criminal act was carried out in blatant violation of international law, which classifies attacks on nuclear facilities as crimes against humanity. The result: vast areas of Iran would face radioactive fallout, threatening millions of lives through a slow-motion massacre and long-term contamination that will haunt generations of Iranians to come.

This nuclear crime has shattered yet another barrier, opening the door to even more catastrophic wars around the world. The U.S., which became the first imperialist power to use nuclear weapons—destroying the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in the 20th century—is now, in the 21st century, the first to commit a nuclear crime by attacking nuclear sites.

In the face of this atrocity, the people of the world must rise up and embrace the call from Bob Avakian as a guiding compass for conscious mass struggle: 

We, the people of the world, can no longer afford to allow these imperialists to continue to dominate the world and determine the destiny of humanity. They need to be overthrown as quickly as possible. And it is a scientific fact that we do not have to live this way. Bob Avakian, 2022

To all people of conscience: in these struggles, do not mistakenly raise the rotten flag of the reactionary, medieval-minded Islamic Republic of Iran—even as an expression of solidarity with the people of Iran. For 46 years, this regime has used its brutal police and military forces to suppress any dissent and crush our people’s aspirations for a better society. Now, amid U.S. and Israeli military aggression, it spreads terror in towns and villages and holds political prisoners in vulnerable, defenseless captivity.

The crimes of Israel and the U.S. must never be used to justify support for the Islamic Republic. Such a position only betrays the people of Iran and their hopes for a future free from both imperialism and the reactionary Islamic Republic regime. In the end, that kind of "solidarity" would benefit Israel and the U.S. Instead, raise the red banners of emancipation—flags emblazoned with the shining star of resistance and solidarity. Let them symbolize a world united in struggle against imperialism and the reactionary regimes born from the womb of the capitalist-imperialist order.

We, the people of the world, must boldly rupture with a system whose lifeblood is war and devastation—a system that wrecks the lives of hundreds of millions around the globe. We must fight for a radically different way of life: for societies with totally new economic foundations, governed by radically transformed political structures, and shaped by emancipatory human relations; societies where meeting the essential needs and fulfilling the greatest hopes of the majority of humanity is the very reason for their being and mode of their existence.

Let us march forward in building a broad and growing unity—within Iran and internationally—against the U.S.-Israeli war of aggression and together fight to create an Iran free from both imperialism and the Islamic Republic.

People of the world: join us in achieving this revolutionary vision. Stand shoulder to shoulder with people in Iran in internationalist solidarity!
