We send this message from streets and cities we no longer recognize—because the face of war is alien, and terrifying. Israel and the United States dropped 1,200 bombs on our land in just 24 hours, making no “discrimination” between child and elderly, military base and elementary school, Khamenei’s palace and a hospital! This time, their bombs are not even wrapped in the veneer of “democracy.” The bombs of fascism, it seems, are more honest with us about our fate: destruction, total domination, and the complete submission of Iran.
We—who had not yet recovered from the massacre of last January by the Islamic Republic—suddenly found ourselves inside an utterly unjust war, in a position where once again we were reduced to mere “numbers” and pushed aside from shaping or deciding our own future.
The roar of missiles came so that our cry of “freedom, freedom, freedom” would not be heard; the explosions came so that the walls bearing the words “we stand until the end” would collapse. The logic of powerful weapons is to make the people appear powerless, to drag them behind reactionary agendas. Are we powerless?
For two years we watched the genocide in Gaza, we watched countless atrocities against women, queer people, migrants—and now we watch the bombing of Iran… Do we want to remain spectators while the warmongering, capitalist-imperialist system pushes our planet beyond plunder and destruction toward complete extinction? What is unfolding today in Iran is the eruption of contradictions in a system that have reached its limits and can no longer find any solution within this system except through massive bloodshed and endless horrors. Do we want to remain spectators?
We, the women of Iran—who have fought against patriarchy for years—now more clearly than ever know that ending patriarchy and liberating women is impossible without overthrowing capitalist imperialism. The words of the representatives of this system about “equal rights,” when their true face has been exposed in Gaza and Iran, should not be tolerated for even a second longer! We declare to them: burning down patriarchy is for us only the first flame in burning down your entire rotten system.
Iran is not only our home as Iranians—it is a burning part of your home. So we do not want from your “solidarity” alone. To stop this fire, take to the streets on March 8 across the world. From the heart of the monster in the United States to all across Europe, from within the imperialisms of China and Russia to Turkey and Pakistan…
Raise your voices: Stop war on Iran!
Stop U.S. imperialism from executing the next stages of its plans for the future of all humanity! Command your governments and ruling classes—those who are either silent in this moment or complicit, fanning the flames of war to claim a larger share—to halt.
Here in Iran, we are organizing to build a real revolution in the midst of this very war. And you—beginning this March 8 and until the end of this war—must bring women into the streets for the liberation of humanity and for stopping the imperialist war machine. Stand with us in demanding an end to the Islamic Republic through the hands of the people in Iran, and help us shatter the false binary of “either the Islamic Republic or the United States.” They are in conflict with one another, but they belong to the same system. Only in this way can we make them regret bombing Iran!
