The National Campaign to Get @BobAvakianOfficial Everywhere has two timely invitations for this week:

This National Campaign is aimed at getting the voice, vision and leadership of the revolutionary leader Bob Avakian (BA) reaching throughout society. BA has developed the new communism, and is providing crucial and ongoing leadership through his social media platform. We have been raising funds for online advertising and an on-the-ground grassroots movement to get Bob Avakian's social media reaching people wherever they are lifting their heads. We are sharing here an invitation from The Bob Avakian Institute, and an invitation to be part of making plans for how to reach out to the students who are returning to campuses in this unprecedented time.

We are thrilled to announce that we'll be starting a new weekly four-part Zoom introduction to the new communism developed by the revolutionary leader Bob Avakian. We began the first of these last month, but wanted to give new people—or people who missed the chance to sign up for that—an opportunity to start from the beginning.

In a time of rapidly consolidating MAGA fascism, impending threats of all-out world war between nuclear-armed powers, and cascading environmental crises, the world desperately, urgently cries out for radical change. It cries out for serious grappling with questions of revolution and the new communism. But what is “new” about the new communism? How does it radically differ from both previous communist theory and revolutions, but also from what passes as radical, anti-capitalist, and even “socialist” or “communist” thought today? Why are we in the situation we're in, and is another radically different—and far better—society and system possible? What would that socialist society guided by the new communism actually look like? 

One participant in the first series—which will be continuing—wrote that the discussions "have done a great job in reinforcing BA's view that a new and better world cannot be imagined through old status quo thinking, that breaking out of old frames of thinking and using bold, generative, and scientific ideation, study, and visioning is essential to unshackle oneself from the prison of knowing only what one already knows."

Another participant wrote, "I really enjoyed this class and am so grateful I got to be a part of it." They said they've learned what it means to use the scientific method "to address questions around society and the economy. In terms of the system of capitalism-imperialism, they've come to understand that "America is the most powerful imperialist nation in the world. This country is wealthy and powerful only because it's abused and preyed upon indigenous people, slaves, and the populations of other countries. This system relies on the few exploiting the labor of the many to enrich themselves. This will always ultimately result in inequality and abuse, even if we do take measures to create equality within this system." 

In terms of "solutions to the current system," they wrote: "As far as I know, BA is the ONLY person that has made any attempt to develop a framework for a country that doesn't exist under this imperialist and capitalist structure. Many other people and groups understand how dangerous and abusive this current political system is, and they want to change it, but I have found that they either 1.) want to make changes from within the system, or 2.) want a revolution without a clear idea of what society would look like after the fact. It appeals to me that BA has created something tangible, a future that I can stand behind."

And finally, they said what surprised them about these discussions was "How challenged I have been! I signed up for the class hoping to just gather some information, but it's really challenged me to think deeply about the current state of this country, its past, and its future."

Finally, while we understand that things come up, we want to ask people—to the greatest degree possible—to commit to the four parts of the discussion.

2. We want to pose a few questions to the revcoms to help make plans for reaching the schools—sounding the alarm, and raising people's sights. And we want to hear back from you!

Students are coming back to school amidst an unprecedented level of terror and tumult—with this system in a profound crisis, and fascism rapidly locking down its grip on all society. This generation of students and youth will play a profound role—one way or another—in how all this plays out.

Think for a moment about those entering high school, or just starting college. (And if you're one of these students, please write to us as well!) These are students who have not known a time without Trump. Young people who grew up against the backdrop of Covid lockdowns, the 2020 uprising that brought to life for millions the reality that this is a white supremacist system. Over the last two years, the genocide in Gaza has been livestreamed onto their phones. 

These students are entering schools amidst a fascist attack on academia itself—and there needs to be a big fight for mass non-compliance, linked to the demand that The Trump Fascist Regime Must Go NOW! Especially building towards the call from RefuseFascism.org for November 5 to "flood DC in nonviolent protest..." and "Don’t stop until Trump is removed."

There need to be huge protests on campuses—starting immediately—demanding schools refuse to buckle to Trump's fascist demands... professors defying the forced changes to the curriculum, and students defending them when they come under attack.... At the schools which have already capitulated to Trump's blackmail, there need to be huge protests demanding the university presidents resign for their shameful collaboration with fascism. And much, much more. 

But as we've said before, what people understand about what we're facing will impact what they do. Through engaging Bob Avakian's social media in an ongoing way, people will come to understand the utter illegitimacy of this fascist regime, the existential stakes in defeating this—and the power the masses of people can have uniting all who can be united to drive this regime from power. Through engaging BA's social media, people can come to understand how this fascism is a result of a major crisis in this system of capitalism-imperialism. They will engage a whole different framework for revolution and human emancipation. And they will be introduced to a scientific method that they can take up themselves for how to navigate this complex and rapidly changing terrain.

Millions and millions of young people care, but most are hopeless—with a lid on their dreams that "nothing else is really possible." They face intense pressure to focus on and strive for careers and other personal achievements in the world despite the fact that the future existence of the planet itself is not guaranteed. They are hammered with a “put yourself first” outlook, shaped by this country’s parasitic individualism. Their yearning for a different world and the curiosity for how humanity could live are too often snuffed out by the unthinking anti-communism and suffocating “cringe culture.” As Bob Avakian has pointed out, many of these young people are anti-capitalist, but they don't know what capitalism is. 

In his social media message REVOLUTION #121, BA references a revcom who shared this insight from a young person: "People just stay on the surface of things, and then stop when things get hard. There is a broad sentiment of anti-capitalism, but this is often accompanied by the idea that you can’t really do anything about it—because, if you thought otherwise, you’d have to do something about it."

But the reality is urgently confronting people of all ages with the need to do something and dig seriously into the reality we're facing, what's needed, what's possible and why.
